The young man in the pink bunny costume was being pulled through the grounds of the amusement park by an overly-excited six year old. “Hyung~ Pali!!!”
Yoochun chuckled and sped up his walk. Behind him, one of his boyfriends and his boyfriend’s best friend were arguing over their pick of costume.
“I can’t believe you copied me Yunho!”
“I didn’t. I’m a tiger.” He motioned to his striped apparel.
“And I’m a lion. You obviously copied me.” Jaejoong stated, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“Jae-hyung, they are two different animals.” Yunho said as calmly as possibly.
“They are both big, predatory cats! It is exactly the same!” By now, the two arguing men had stopped their walking and were holding up traffic. Jae was holding back the urge to stomp his foot in protest.
“Hyung~” “Oppa~” The children holding on to their hands whined. “We’re missing all the rides!!!” Unfortunately their cries were ignored.
“Jae, they are two different types of cats.” Yunho tried to remain patient as he explained the difference between tigers and lions to Jaejoong.
“But they are the same species! Hell, they can even make little liger babies!” This of course brought on pleas by the children to go to the zoo, to see liger babies.
Yunho scoffed. “You are taking this whole thing way too seriously.”
“Fashion is always serious!” Jae finally let go and stomped his foot; having a tantrum like a child. The little girl holding his hand began to copy him and stomp her feet in sympathy. “See, Hee-Young agrees with me. Don’t you princess?”
“Yes, Oppa is the prettiest lion ever!” Jae smiled smugly.
“Jae, we are in animal costumes for a volunteer project to take some adorable kids to the amusement park. Not saunter down a catwalk.” Jaejoong didn’t miss his cue to glare at Yunho, completely not amused at the pun.
Changmin and Junsu, along with their assigned children, were trailing behind.
“So why are you dressed up as a sheep?” Changmin asked, not even bothering to hide his laughter.
“It was supposed to be a ram costume.” He was pouting.
“Why a ram?”
Junsu looked up at him shocked. “Uh, for all the-” he paused to cover the kid’s ears. Changmin followed his example just in case. “For all the sexual innuendos, duh!” Surprisingly, it actually made sense to Changmin. Poor Junsu had made up all these jokes about ramming Chun and Jae and random objects throughout the day. Now his fun was spoiled.
“So why are you a Rudolph?”
“I’m a reindeer.” Changmin suddenly feeling self-conscious raised an arm to straighten out his antlers.
“That’s what I said.”
Sigh. “I wanted to be a snake, for obvious reasons,” he nodded to his crotch and Junsu smiled in understanding. “But Chunnie said snakes weren’t kid friendly. He wanted me to go as a giraffe. But I don’t think giraffes are sexy.”
“But reindeers are?”
He shrugged uncaringly. “Holidays are romantic?”
“I still think giraffes are plenty sexy.” Yoochun grinned, suddenly appearing from the head of the pack. This of course set off Jaejoong’s “inappropriate comments made by Yoochun” radar.
“Ya! No flirting with the help!” The lion Jae snarled.
“Excuse me?” Changmin eyed the flamboyant lion…and he tops?
“Go pull a sleigh Rudolph - you’re a work animal!” Jae nudged his way between Changmin and his two boyfriends.
Changmin scoffed and decided to join Yunho; pulling a skinny boy along with him. Jae grinned in victory.
“I wasn’t flirting; I was trying to see what was taking so long.” Yoochun protested as each boyfriend gave him an accusatory look.
“Yeah, Chunnie-hyung was just being consid-consi-. Nice.” They all looked down to the child holding on to Yoochun’s hand. He was practically a replica of the man in charge of his care for the day; all big eyes and curls - except that he was missing one of his front teeth and some words had become difficult to pronounce. They all cooed before continuing on.
“Have you given up on berating Yunho?” Yoochun asked his mildly distracted boyfriend.
“Nevar! That guy is a dirty rotten copycat!” He shot a fist up in the air but his boyfriends had already begun to walk away.
“Copycat! Copycat!” Chanted the young girl holding Jae’s hand, the man smiled. Ah, another disciple of Kim Jaejoong in the making.
The five men plus children were in line for one of the smaller - less scary - roller coasters, awaiting their turn. The kids were all bouncing with excitement, along with Yoochun.
“Stay still, I want to get a picture of my Tokki in his tokki costume.” Jaejoong had his phone out.
“I’m not a bunny.” Yoochun complained, catching the others’ attention as well. He fixed his floppy bunny ears for the picture he was posing for.
“Oh?” Yunho questioned.
“I’m a hare.” He explained, mischievous smile on his face.
“What’s the difference?” Yunho asked again; being the only one who didn’t know better than to not question Yoochun’s logic.
“Hares are ghetto bunnies. They will cut you.” He deadpanned.
“Then why are you pink?” Yunho was just having fun now.
“The better to lure you into a false sense of security with.” Yoochun answered with his most innocent smile; dimples out and big eyes gleaming. The other four shudder. Yoochun was not to be messed with in a dark alley - pink fur or not.
It was soon time for them to board the roller coaster. Once seated the kids (plus Yoochun) could barely contain their excitement. As they plummeted from the peak of the tracks Yunho screamed like a little girl, Jaejoong kept his eyes closed the whole time, Junsu swallowed a bug, Changmin barely avoided the vomit of his charge and Yoochun had a blast - he even remembered to pose for the picture during the ride with Ji Won, his new surrogate son.
“Thanks for vomiting over the side of the ride, kid.” Changmin said as he rubbed the boy’s back as they sat on a bench drinking some water. “Feeling any better?” The boy nodded shyly.
“Sorry Changmin-hyung.” Ki Woong grumbled, clearly miserable.
“It’s alright; at least you didn’t get any on the scary hyung.” He said nodding toward Jaejoong who was now chasing after Yunho and his boy (Byunghee) with his new disciple Hee-Young in tow. Indeed, the children already thought Jaejoong was big and mean since he had been bullying Yunho all day. Well, all except for Hee-Young, of course, who was now calling him Jae-unnie. Changmin already liked that girl, very much.
“Why don’t we play some games for awhile, ne?” Ki Woong nodded enthusiastically, grateful for the comfort. Changmin liked the kid enough; thinking he was quiet and shy. But after Ki Woong nearly blinded the slightly shifty-looking game attendant while throwing darts at balloons on a wall for prizes - on purpose - he realized maybe he and the kid had more in common than he previously thought.
“You have some perfect aim there Ki Woong.” Changmin smiled as he hoisted a giant stuffed bear over his shoulder. They had been bribed to leave the booth by the attendant after Ki Woong almost took the guy’s ear off. The young boy just beamed up at Changmin and suggested that they hit the water gun games next.
“They have a giant plush dino there that I want.” The evil grin on the child’s face could rival Changmin’s own.
“Lead the way dongsaeng!”
Meanwhile, a pouting Junsu wasn’t having as much fun as he had hoped. He was dressed up as a stupid sheep - instead of a ram - he didn’t know where his boyfriends went, and the little boy he had been assigned to for the day had yet to say one word.
“Yah, kid. What do you want to do next? Play some games? Ride another roller coaster? Get a snack? You hungry?” Junsu poked the child in the cheek; hoping to get some sort of a response. “Aish. Come on boy, give me something to work with.”
After a long moment of staring at each other, the child pointed at the merry-go-round. Junsu held back his groan. “Arasso.” That day Junsu rode the merry-go-round seventeen times in a row - Changmin and Ki Woong pointed and laughed at him for six of those eleven times - Yunho and Byunghee for eleven.
At six o’clock that evening, the group reunited at the west exit. Junsu and “boy”, as he had dubbed the silent child, were the first ones there. Junsu was more than glad to finally be on firm - unmoving - ground again. Changmin and Yunho were next; their charges were each fast asleep in their arms. Ki Woong and Byunghee had passed out after a long afternoon of teasing Junsu. Changmin was also balancing a giant stuffed bear and dinosaur in his arms. Jaejoong skipped up to them moments later with Hee-Young on tow; they had gotten their faces painted. Jaejoong was, of course, made up as a lion to complete his costume and Hee-Young’s face had the design of a sparkly purple butterfly on it. No one mentioned to Jaejoong that real lions should not have sparkly gold whiskers.
Yoochun was the last to arrive. He was carrying Ji Won on his shoulders and the child was dressed up as a pink “hare” as well. They really looked like father and son; especially with their matching dimpled smiles.
“Ah hyung, do we really have to leave?” Ji Won asked, hands clasped under Yoochun’s chin. Yoochun bounced up and down eliciting laughter from the boy before answering.
“Yes, but hyung promises to bring you back here soon so we can go on all the rides all over again.”
“Me too! Me too!” “Boy” finally spoke up. Junsu resisted the urge to face palm. No way in hell was he going to ride on that spinning death trap ever again.
The children’s parent soon came to collect their children and thanked the young men for spending the day with them when they had to work. It took 20 minutes to pry a crying Ji Won from a crying Yoochun - neither of them really wanted to let go.
“Cheer up my little watermelon, you’ll get to see the kid again soon.” Changmin patted his best friend on the back in the manliest hug he could while dressed up as a reindeer. Yoochun nodded silently, his bunny ears flopping around.
Jaejoong and Junsu nudged Changmin out of the way to comfort their boyfriend. The latter completely forgetting about the crappy time that he had that day at the sight of his pouting Tokki.
“You know Chunnie, seeing you all parental like that with Ji Won got me thinking about the three of us having a family of our own one day.” Jaejoong said, pressing kisses all over the younger man’s face. This never failed to make Yoochun giggle.
“Jae, stop. That tickles.” He sighed and half-heartedly swatted at Jaejoong’s face.
“You will make such a great parent one day Chunnie,” Junsu began as he trailed kisses over the man’s jaw. “And you in this costume is driving me nuts!” By now, he was nuzzling Yoochun’s neck and hand his arms around both of his boyfriends - so that he could squeeze and pull both the lion and bunny tails. “I think we should start practicing making babies - right now!” He smiled against the pulse point, feeling Yoochun’s heart race. Jaejoong was practically purred in agreement.
“Gg-guys!” Yoochun began to back away from his boyfriends. He was afraid they would throw him down right there at the amusement park to ravish him. “ Men can’t have babies.”
“Oh, I disagree.” Jaejoong’s grin turn feral. “ I’m sure with enough practice we’ll get it right.” Jaejoong said as he fished the car keys out of his pocket and winked at Junsu before sprinting to the parking lot to get his car. “Grab the Tokki!” He yelled behind him. Junsu threw Yoochun over his shoulder and ran after Jaejoong; Yoochun never even got the chance to call out to Changmin for help.
“So, that was weird.” Yunho commented after they heard the squealing of tires as Jaejoong peeled his car out of the lot to race home.
“I have to lay down some rules with those two about how they treat Yoochun.” Changmin huffed, making his way to Yunho’s car. “Poor guy can’t even walk properly half the time.”
“Like you’re any better.” Yunho snorted at Changmin, annoyed that his boyfriend was so focused on his best friend.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“You are always rough with me!” He rubbed at his tiger bottom subconsciously.
“At least we switch it up once in a while.”
Yunho scoffed but didn’t say anything, leaning against his car; his back to Changmin. Once in a while was more like once every twenty times.
“Come on Yunnie. I don’t want to fight with you today.” He turned Yunho to look at him. “See, I even dressed up special for you.”
Yunho raised an eyebrow in question, but remained silent.
“Doesn’t my reindeer costume resemble a certain favorite plush animal of yours.” He nudged Yunho’s chin with his nose.
“Really? You wanted to look like Bambi for me?” Yunho tried not to sound as touched as he was.
“Well, you do sleep with her every night, and I was getting a little jealous…” he let his words trail off. He hoped playing the submissive role would distract Yunho from his anger.
“Oh, you in this costume is plenty better than Bambi - and so much more interactive.” Yunho slipped his arms around Changmin’s waist and pulled him in for a lip bruising kiss.
After what was one of those times where Changmin and Yunho “switched it up”, the couple curled up on the futon in Yunho’s basement. Changmin was still wearing his antlers and Yunho still had on his tiger ears. As Changmin fingered the triangular fuzzy orange ears he kissed Yunho’s temple, still reveling in post-coital bliss.
“You chose the tiger costume on purpose, didn’t you, Yunnie?” He tugged on the ear playfully. “My naughty little tiger.”
“That’s what Jae gets for getting his sex cooties all over our futon.” Yunho snickered, curling into Changmin’s side before drifting off to sleep.
