Its not even a 'model thing'. I know a lot of regular women with this build that would be off at weight-watchers in distress if they looked like this in photos.

I know! I just don't get it. Marlyin was sexy. She'd prolly be a size 10 by today's standards. Not a "perfect" size 6. Or is 00 now the "perfect" size? By the looks of Lohan, Hilton, and Richie, it's like women don't even want breasts anymore.

Lohan had a great figure and nice red hair before she decided to fug it all up.

The strangest thing I've noticed regarding women and weight issues: On a few occasions, I've been working in a group that contained a number of 'regular' weight women (not fat, not thin, probably would say they needed to loose 5 or 10lbs if asked but otherwise no issues with eating). When a woman with clear signs of anorexic behavior joined the group the other women started obsessing about calories and constantly talking about them - 'can't eat some of the birthday cake, I've had 826 calories today already'. Its always struck me as strange. Kinda like knowing someone you work beside has a problem with alcohol and then saying 'shit, I sure could kill a cold beer' every hour or so ( ... )

My guess: Some women get insecure around an anorexic, because they know the anorexic's worst fear is to be fat. So they are afraid that the anorexic thinks THEY are fat.

Personally, I think there are a lot of worse things you can be than fat, but I say this from the standpoint of being overweight. That's a fact. I don't say it out of any form of false modesty.

I want to tone up for health reasons, I am pretty much past the point of being in any kind of competition with anyone but myself. As odd as it sounds, I think for character building , it's good to be overweight at some point in your life. Maybe not so much for physical health... which is why I'm making changes in my diet and routine. I am prone to bits of overindulgence. And it doesn't help that I'm a really good cook. I'm entirely too addicted to good food. lol ( ... )

And the converse....I know some physically beautiful people who are just bags of deep rooted insecurity!

Well, it's true, if you grow up fat as a kid, you go the rest of your life thinking you're fat, even when you're not. So then it becomes more likely for you to live up to the idea in your mind that you're still an ugly duckling.

Also, there is the sad case of the people who are beautiful, but think it is the only thing that makes them valuable. So when it starts to fade, they then begin to believe they have no real value.

So, I guess it's better to be an ugly duckling first.

I think this is why I'm a bigger fan of the older movie actresses. Sure, they were beautiful, but they also had soul. You can't compare Ingrid Bergman, Audrey Hepburn, or even Marilyn to the likes of today's young starlets. The possible exceptions being Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman (even though she comes off a little flakey in interviews, for a Harvard grad and all).

I guess I'm thinking more of the socialites and pop singers... they are the worst.

Yeah, what exactly did Paris Hilton do to become famous? Ditto Nicole Richie? Born to super rich fathers? I can't think of anything more than that. Other than starving themselves, and having an 'attitidue' they don't have anything out of the ordinary. I mean, if Marilyn wasn't a star per se, she would have still commanded attention everywhere she went. If it wasn't for the aura their entourage/papparazzi surround them in, Paris and Nicole would be just another shopper in any old mall.
