"i am gonna make it through this year if it kills me" - the mountain goats

About the much-mentioned Coldplay concert. . . oh, man, was it ever good. It was the best concert I've ever gone to in my whole life. I am still smiling from how good it was.
I did go alone, which was a little weird, but I was fine and thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was exactly what I needed this week, there is nothing like going and seeing amazing musicians who are passionate about what they play. It inspired me and helped me de-stress from the moving/life chaos of the past few weeks.

About life in general. . . I haven't even mentioned how someone turned out in front of me about a month ago and totaled my car. Mind you, this was exactly a week after I'd found out about my dad having cancer, so of course this just added to the stress I was already under. My best friend Amanda was visiting me from New Mexico, and she and I were on our way to get gas right before we were to go to Stratford, Ontario, Canada. A guy didn't see me coming in my lane as I had a green light and turned left in front of me, luckily both of us realized what was going on so he sped up to try to get out of my way and I hit the brakes to try and avoid hitting him. We collided, thankfully everyone was ok (he was in a big truck), which was amazing considering what was happened, but my car was, as Thad would say, kaput. I ended up getting $500 for it from the other guy's insurance co. since it was his fault (which I guess is good for a car I got for free).

Thad and Nikki got married a week later, which that week was crazy working on a slide show for that, so after all that craziness and after Amanda went back home I started on my insane all-consuming car hunt. Since I have never bought a car before and I didn't have any money to put down for one so I needed a loan, plus I wanted a good car that would re-sell well later, I looked at every used Honda civic and Volkswagen Jetta in a 75 mile radius online. And to make a long story short, after having about 4 of the cars I wanted to buy get sold the day I would go to test drive them, I got a good deal on a 2000 VW Jetta. I will put pictures up sometime of my old car and the new one. It's sort of weird driving such a nice car. The whole car search took a couple of weeks total including the time I was busy with Amanda being here and the wedding, a lot of phone calls, and a couple of long trips, before I test drove the one I bought.

Then it's taken some time to learn how to drive a manual transmission. woohoo.

Then we moved across town this past weekend.

Then I went to the concert 2 days later.

Right now: I am in my office on a break, glad it is Friday and I have a long weekend to finish unpacking and work on some church stuff before the SAU students come back.

Yes, it has been a full month(s)/year. I think probably between all that's happened it would take me losing a limb to really be surprised. (just kidding, God, I think I'm set for right now).
