So, I had this crazy dream last night. In it, a man won a contest in which the grand prize was the privilege of sleeping in my bed. No, not with me or my husband IN the bed; the prize was that he got to sleep in there all by himself. (It IS a very nice bed).
Anyway, the man wore many scarves and big dusty boots. He kept calling me "bairn." And he looked an awful lot like a guy I dated in high school, a guy who had hearing loss in one ear, but didn't want to admit it. (This same guy totally ruined the movie "Splash" for me cause he kept saying "What? What did he say? What's going on? Who's that again?" every fourteen seconds.)
I thought my contest-winning-man-with-dusty-boots dream was particularly weird because I'm not the one who usually has the weird dreams, my husband is. One morning, he was looking at me with what I felt was a rather accusatory expression.
"What?" I said.
"I had a dream that I had your face and I couldn't get it off," he said, as if this were my fault. He didn't tell me who had been wearing his face.
Speaking of weird things you can't get rid of, Lisa Yee (

the llama song some time ago on a listserv and it's now seared into my brain permanently.
