quilts .
i sewed my first quilt . Ever . like ever .
it turned out to be weird size, but it is for my mom's 52nd birthday
and moms always like things you make (they have to) . i learned a lot .

(quilting means you sew through multiple layers, i used thin batting)

also, i saw the MOST amazing quilts recently . i think i would want one of these
as a wedding/anniversary present some day . they seem perfect for that .
the designer (who was also trained as an architect) designs these large quilts
that are based on neighborhood maps (she calls them "soft maps") i think they are
really interesting, beautiful and subtle .
