So after a night of listening to the wind outside and sitting by the gas fireplace and going to the bathroom with tealights in our totally dark hotel room (power never did come back on ever), we got up early so we could go back to Fort Ord before it was time to catch the plane back home. It was a dreary, wet day. But perfect for taking photos of rows of depressing abandoned military housing!
There are so many pictures, I'm going to post them in 3 parts of 16 pictures each.
I didn't go inside many of them. First of all I had to go alone because Greg doesn't do interiors, and second of all the exteriors were infinitely more interesting. At least from what little I saw. Maybe I missed the totally evil pentagram human sacrifice scene just around the corner, but I simply didn't have the time.
Lots of old crap lying around. I also really loved that red & green plant that was growing all over.
Free file drawer!
The buildings were all pretty much the same. One door on each one led to a room with a tank in it. I'm sure the tanks were all full of sunshine, lollypops and rainbows, and not anything leaky and evil and full of volatile organic compounds.
Those double doors are where the tank room is. Oh, and that's apparently a long row of eucalyptus trees back there at the edge of the housing. They were aromatic, and it took Greg a while to remember what they were.
