The Olson Farm part 2

So why is this farmhouse haunted?

Is it because someone died in there?

Well for one thing, there are bales of hay on the porch...

And ancient appliances. Is that a toilet??

Nah. The real reason I keep calling it "haunted" is because I was standing out front and I said "I think I'm gonna go take some pictures inside the front door," and at that very moment, the front door opened. By itself. Now I know what you're gonna say "duh it was the wind, you're in North Dakota dumbass," and of course you're right, but it seemed very convenient that the wind blew it wide open at the very second I mentioned going up there. So that's why I've been annoying you with the haunted comments.

Here it is with the door open. You can kind of see on these two door pictures, how the floor is much lower than it should be. I don't know that I've ever seen a floor quite like that. Its a good foot or two lower than it originally was. If I didn't know better, I'd say the entire house was sinking into the basement. Wait - I don't know better! Maybe it is... Which is why I was wary of even going upstairs, since even if its solid up there, if the whole house is sinking, what if that extra 150 pounds is all it needs to suddenly, violently, complete its journey into the basement?

inside the living room. I wonder which of the junk belonged to my family, and which belongs to the current owners. Oh well, nothing there I want to take anyway. Nor do I feel like going into that sinking room.

I'll throw in my great-great grandmother's gravestone here, even though its not at the farm. Its in the Hansboro cemetery a few miles away. I like that people used to get big stones all to themselves. Nowadays, some cemeteries (the ones that SUCK) don't even do the big family name stones. I think everyone deserves their own stone with something cool carved in it. Or something funny like "I told you I was sick." :P

In other news, the Ray Meister is all excited because after the art & wine walk next month, there's a thing at the museum paying tribute to some guy in Nip Tuck. God its been years since I've seen that show! I have no idea who he's talking about, but he's excited and I'm sure everybody gay will be there!

ancestors, cemeteries, farmhouses, misc. abandoned things
