so instead of warming up for chorus, i'm going to do a short update! some cool things have happened.... on saturday, jillian had her senior recital which was lovely, and we all went out to eat in the north end, had soem wine, came back to the dorm and had mudslides, jell-o shots, sour apple schnapps, etc... the RA came in, and one kid in the room didn't know who he was so he offered him a jell-o shot. what does the RA say?? "yeah sure! why the hell not?! i'm tired as hell anyway.. you guys are all 21-ish right? yeah..." haha, nice.

last nite was the symphonic chorus and orchestra performance at symphony hall, which went decently, and is finally over with. then there's a chorus concert this saturday [8pm @ CFA concert hall! ;o)  ] and then i will be officially done with chorus for the year! aaawesome. my acting petition went through, my schedule is all set for next semester (with a sweet 13 credits, with two gym classes!!!), and my last semester is basically set as well! now all i ahve to do is find a job or two for the summer.....

coolest thing of the week: there are these summer sings back in jersey where once a week, a sight-reading session is held and guest conductors come in to rehearse these pieces for fun (as a fundraiser for the group that sponsors the sings.) well, there are 2 directors that conduct each year, one of which i've known for awhile, and i asked last summer if i could be a soloist- neither wrote back to my requests. so last week, i emailed them both again. the one i didn't know wrote back and said "i'm really busy this week, can you email me again next week?" so that's good i didn't get shot down, ha... the other conductor wrote back a few days later, saying "our timing's a little off, we already have the soloists set.. but maybe i can hear you for next summer." this was also fine, i didn't even expect either to write back anyway! then i got an email sunday morning from the conductor i know, saying "things have changed a bit... a mezzo soloist is needed for mozart requiem and beethoven 9 on july 6.. would you be around?" so of course i told him i was around and very interested, and he says "wonderful! learn the roles and we'll schedule a coaching in mid-june." yayyy!!! i am sooo excited to do this! i'm pretty sure it's not paid, but i don't care at all, it will be a wonderful experience, and who knows- if he likes my voice enough, maybe he could use it for paid engagements in the future.. if not, it doesn't matter, but i'm just so excited for this opportunity!!! and then i still have yet to hear anything from the other conductor, so i could get a few more gigs if i'm lucky :o)
