Here is an email I got today. It is REAL, no joke. Sometimes, it makes me wonder....
Lewis & Clark community members,
In an effort to provide information and dispel any rumors about a
situation that occurred earlier today at Templeton Campus Center, I am
communicating the following: At 11:10am, Campus Safety was dispatched to
Templeton in regards to a suspicious "ticking" package addressed to an
undergraduate student. Due to staff concerns about the package, it was
removed to the far northwest corner of the lower Templeton parking lot
prior to Campus Safety's arrival. Campus Safety personnel noted that the
"ticking" sounded like a metronome. College personnel, including
Facilities and Templeton staff, helped clear the lower lot and place
barricade tape, preventing entry to the area.
When Campus Safety was unable to make contact with the mentioned
student, the Portland Police Bureau was contacted. Responding Portland
officers were able to locate a telephone number on the the box. Contact
was quickly made with a parent of the student, who confirmed that a
metronome was included inside the package. Officers opened the box and
located the device.
