Living La Vida Loaf-A #Tillamook #LoafLove

In November, we were invited to join the Loaf Love Tour at the World Famous San Diego Zoo, hosted by Food Network’s own Chef Keegan of D Bar, right here in our neighborhood.  Tillamook Cheese, The Zoo, a great chef feeding us?  Yes, please!  We had an incredible experience, while being treating like VIP’s for the day.  Loaf Love? Yea, we got it!

We were part of the private party at the beautiful San Diego Zoo, while Chef Keegan taught us how to make the best grill cheese sandwich.  After, we were given all the ingredients to make our own grill cheese, while competing with other San Diego bloggers.  We didn’t win, but I assure you that our grill cheese?  THE best EVA!

We weren’t the only ones that got to enjoy the Loaf Love Tour, however.  The Love Loaf buses were out in full force at the San Diego Zoo and many Loaf Lover employees were there to “bring the cheese to the people.”  They brought it, indeed.  Every flavor of Tillamook’s cheese was on hand for zoo patrons to try and there was much love all around!

I had no idea Tillamook was all about the ice cream too.  A scoop of each, pretty please!

We learned very quickly that Tillamook isn’t all about the cheese, although that is a big part of it!  We got to try Tillamook yogurt and ice cream too.  I am usually prefer vanilla ice cream to any other flavor, yet I couldn’t pick my favorite between the vanilla bean, strawberry and chocolate.  In all honesty, I was leaning toward the chocolate. It was all so very good!

Some of my favorite facts that we learned with the Tillamook team is that:

  • Its cows are artificial hormone-free.
  • Tillamook uses all-natural ingredients to flavor its delectable yogurts. There’s no high fructose corn syrup or artificial colors.  This is very important to this health-conscious mom!
  • Tillamook cheese is produced using milk that is heat-treated rather than pasteurized.  This  process allows for bacteria that is essential for producing high quality Cheddar.
  • Tillamook cheese is an award-winning cheese since 1908.

Tillamook yogurt? Yummy!

Allie loved meeting Loafy, the Tillamook mascot.  As we drove away from the zoo, she actually said, “I already miss Loafy.”  She’s a silly girl.

Rumor has it that Tillamook has their very own fudge counter, so THAT is something I look forward to partaking in at some point in time!

On Tuesday, March 12th, the Loaf Love Tour is hitting Chef Keegan’s D Bar.  The Tillamook’s Loaf Love Tour is back in San Diego! To celebrate, Tillamook is taking over Chef Keegan Gerhard’s restaurant, D Bar, for a happy hour to satisfy San Diego’s ultimate cheese lovers.

Chef Keegan will be serving his favorite Tillamook specials with cheese sent straight from the factory and a Loaf Love Tour mini-bus will be outside D Bar for photo ops, and Brand Ambassadors will be handing out free Tillamook swag.

Disclaimer: Tillamook generously offered complementary tickets for my family to the San Diego Zoo and to a private party, where we were fed yummy Tillamook products-in exchange for spreading the word about the Loaf Love.  Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. I honestly love Tillamook and their products and have fond memories of the delicious foods they served us.
