So, in my journalism class tonight an editor of the Detroit News covered for our professor. Now, this is an Internet Reporting class, and he is the editor of the News' Web site. If anyone in my class had half a brain they would have realized how lucky we were to have him in.
But NO!
While me, one guy and this editor had a very worthwhile discussion, everyone else chatted on AIM. My head almost imploded.
Some day, when newspapers give up and rely more on the Internet, many of my classmates may end up in that editor's office looking for a job. I wonder if he'll remember their faces?
But then again, this is the class of senior journalism students who have yet to get published and all want to end up on "Entertainment Tonight."
*Shakes head*
Oh yeah, and in my other journalism class we had to keep a record of the news we watched/read/listened to all week. One girl approached me in the computer lab while I typed up my log to get help on hers. Here's a transcript of the conversation:
Girl: "Have you done your log?"
Me: "Well, I wrote down all the stuff I read over the weekend, and so I'm typing it now."
Girl: "What did you write?"
Me: "Just like, 'Read the Oakland Press for 20 minutes ..., Listened to NPR for an hour ...' stuff like that."
Girl: "Oh, so did you actually read that over the weekend?"
Me: *Confused* "Well, I didn't time it perfectly, but yeah I read the paper and stuff every day ..."
Girl: "Oh, I didn't read anything. Hahaha, I'll have to make stuff up."
Me: *Shoots up Oakland Center in a bloody explosion of rage*
