So another Christmas and birthday have come and gone, and I still don't feel any older. Well, maybe when I read back over old entries and see how different my train of thought seems to be.
Yes, this is going to be a boring post. It seems to be all I do lately, and I don't do much. So here's my "for posterity" gift list.
I got:
Michael G - $5 Starbucks card (this was really an opening night present, but it's a Christmas show, so it still counts)
Board of Directors - gift bag including gift cards of $12\Huey's, $10\Bosco's, $10\Starbuck's, $30\Target, free Malco movie pass, and a bottle of wine. It's good to be an Intern. For once.
Liz (Secret Santa) - Fall Out Boy's "From Under the Cork Tree"
Jay - Black hoodie w\ grey "pirate stripe" hood lining. I LOVE it. It's so warm and snuggly and when I wear it it feels like getting a hug. /gush.
Selina - Hershey kiss cookie press and decorating tips! That's why she's my platonic heterosexual girlfriend.
Rebecca - Shoes with flowers stickers (yup) and $30 to help out while my parents were in town. We used it to pay most of the bill for lunch at Zinnie's East.
Corey - $10 Starbucks card
Candice - A little thing of body wash
Daniel and Heath - Mississippi Mud cake that they made theyselves
Parents - Their presence; skull and crossbones (with pink bling!) cell phone charm; 1 GB portable USB drive; $15 Starbucks card (yeaahhhhh! Me no pay for coffee long time)
Tyler - His presence; Pirates of the Caribbean 2008 wall calendar
Juli - Dr. Scholl's foot spa; black bathrobe; Bath and Body Works basket (Wild Honeysuckle); three books that she clearly found in the free bin at McKay's (titles are "Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway: Dynamic techniques for turning fear, indecision, and anger into power, action, and love"; "Before You Say I Do: Important Questions to Ask Before Marriage"; and "The Secret Sex Lives of Famous People". Glad she didn't pay to ship these or anything.)
Frank and Sue - JJ Janie jewelry bag
Birthday:
Mom's mom gave me $50 for birthday and Christmas combined, and I used a little of it to buy a Learn Basic Welsh program (part of my New Year's resolutions).
Dad's mom - $5 (hey, she had 12 kids, they all had a lot of kids... give her a break)
Mom - a fantastic pair of black cateye sunglasses (with bling!)
Dad - $40 not really for my birthday but just for general. I would normally decline, but my bank account was scarily low the other day, so I gladly accepted. Don't worry, when the New Year's resolutions kick in, there are going to be some changes in Casa de Laura. I still don't know where Life After Intern is going to take me, but I have to start planning for that mess. At least I know I'll be warm, well-caffeinated, and have fabulous feet.
As far as things I've given... not so hot. Except for Jay. So we'll start with him.
Jay - Christmas plaid kilt (heck yes, and it was hot, too) and faux rabbit fur sporran; Pirate scarf (all of this was made by me, of course)
Michael G - "Christmas" scarf (it's the same style as the ones I made for "Plaid Tidings"; I just asked him which was his favorite. It's mostly green, a little less white, and just a leeetle bit of red, so it isn't too Christmas-y)
Beau (Secret Santa) - handpainted Mario piggy bank with $15 (for Smash Bros for his Wii)
Selina - haven't made it yet (eep!), but it's totally planned
Corey - A copy of the "Frog and Toad" treasury
Sarah - planned but not executed!
I think I'm going to give Tyler a $20 Bookstar gift card and regift Juli my Target card, but I keep forgetting to get it together. I don't remember if I've given anything else. I'm pretty broke (well, before the money I got... but I really need to save that until I see what happens next).
