So I'm trying to work on my drabbles from the drabble meme, and my brain is being all recalcitrant. It wants to read, apparently. And, since it's wanted to read a lot lately, I've worked through almost all of my stack of novels-to-read and some of the nonfiction-to-read and then topped it off with the Miles/Gregor novel A Deeper Season (which, if I'd known it was M/G, I would not have read, so I am glad no one told me, because it was quite good. I don't read front pages, in case there are warnings there, so I completely missed the label).
So. I'm looking for fic recs. I'm looking for...well, what I usually look for, and NO, what I usually look for is NOT darkfic, silly people!
OK, one of the things I usually look for.
I like long, plotty, romantically tense but not so much angsty - like, good examples are A Deeper Season, Merry's A Quiet War, Aristide & Bone's How Ray Got His Groove Back. That kind of vibe, you know, where you're kind of on the edge of your seat, and none of the characters are acting like blazing freakin' retards.
I'm a tad picky about fandom here, and even pickier about pairings, but...I'm trying to be open. I'm way behind on Dr. Who, SGA, and House, though.
So. What doors can you show me?
