Number 6.. No longer in a row. ):

I'm so devastated that I missed posting last year. I was so certain that I did.

I guess I have a lot of life events to cover in the next 28 minutes...

To begin, last year (2011-2012) was my last year of high school. Time flew by throughout the entire year. I accomplished a major goal in life by making it into District Band. I enjoyed my time there very much and am so fortunate to have that experience in high school. "Senioritis" didn't really take a toll on my academic performance and I did pretty well in all of my classes, ending the year tied for class rank 3 (the best spot to have, in my opinion--no graduation speech, and my favorite number!) I made my decision to go to Kutztown University for Music Education, and had many visits during my senior year, meeting with professors and meeting my awesome flute professor, Dr. Loewy. I am so happy that I made this decision.

This past year, I have had quite a journey living the college life. I'm living in the honors dorm--3 roommates and our own bathroom, and enjoy it a lot (although I do enjoy coming home). My roommate for the first semester was Blair, who is a Music and Art Education major, and my other suitemates were Jess and Keyana. Jess and I are planning on moving in with Hannah, who lives next door, when we return to campus after our 6 WEEK vacation. I'm very pleased with how college is going so far; I got all A's in my first semester and a 4.0 GPA. I also participated in a Flute Recital, where I played 5 trios and 1 solo, "Piano Palooza," The Snowman, and a Jazz Ensemble concert. I was a member of KUMU, the Kutztown University Marching Unit, in the fall. I met most of my friends there--Cheyenne, Kelly, Meghan, and Carla--who all play flute as well. We've all gone on many adventures this year already, mostly "coning," and always have a great time. It's really amazing how close all of us seem already. I thank God for my talents and my friends whenever I get the chance. I am so lucky that everything is going so well for me.

On a sadder note, another young man who I knew since his birth, lost his battle to cancer earlier this year, and has joined his older brother in Heaven. It's so difficult to understand why both of these boys have passed away and I can not even begin to think about how their parents must feel. Losing one child is horrible enough, but losing both must be unbearable. I know they're looking down on all of us from Heaven every day and are in a better place now, where they are no longer suffering.

Seeing how I only have 5 minutes left of my favorite day of the year, it looks like I should wrap this up.

I'm very thankful for another successful year and am very excited for the upcoming holidays.
Merry Christmas and a Happy 2013.
