A Study of Twins

This is a study of the physical similarities between two young men: my boyfriend and my brother. Although I did not originally take notice of their likeness myself, the endless occurrence of mistaken identity amongst strangers, acquaintances, friends, and family over the past three years has lead me to contemplate this circumstance. These images were not created with the intention to make them look identical, but rather to compare and contrast their features under neutral conditions. They remain shrouded behind their hair and within the outlines of their silhouettes. There is an unspoken moment of self-examination and self-consciousness between the subjects as they compare themselves to each other. It is the close ups of their faces, which finally reveal their unique identities, and sets them apart.
