home again, home again, jiggidy jig
i'm home from chicago. it was fun, but the scavenger hunt, in my most humble opinion, was a waste of time....and dangerous because we were on the south side of chicago in the ghetto. yes, this middle-class caucasian was slightly uncomfortable.
but the most fun was hanging out with the people i've known since freshman year that i NEVER see anymore. i hung out with the girls a lot (my old roommies and people from the freshman dorm), but i also got to know some people better that i didn't really know that well before. and i enjoyed it thoroughly. i was openly and unabashedly myself, too...for what may have been the first time ever around some of those folks.
though i liked chicago, i maintain my opinion that boston is my favorite city. i really like the city in general, but boston is still tops for me. which, in a sense, sucks since it's so far up there. brrrr...
a shout out to all the cool people i hung out with: lu lu, katyanna, hunter, april, thomas, nicholas, ann lowrey, paul, alicia, emily, marcus,landon, kate, eliz.
*to all of you, we will be having parties to play the movie game so we can all beat thomas repeatedly....bwaahaahaa (evil laugh)
notes to self...
...when someone on the street tells you, "you know you're in the projects, right?" proceed to nearest subway train/bus elsewhere
...never stop for lunch in the projects before proceeding to nearest subway train/bus after said incident
...don't start a scavenger hunt in the shady part of town and plan to work your way back to the good part--you'll end up spending 6 hours in the ghetto
...when deciding a method of travel, do not list trains first
...thomas responds well to complaining (my feet hurt...my back hurts...i'm hungry...are we there yet?...i'm tired) and prefers to be called "dumbass" while leading the group 6 blocks in the wrong direction
...never listen to katyanna (it's her fault)
...beyonce knowles is rarely a good answer in the movie game
...walls don't move
