Almost Touch The Sky

“I love you, Diane!” Owen shouts, in one last desperate attempt to get her to not fly through the Rift to who-the-hell-knows-where. To get her to turn off the engine, exit her plane, stand on the tarmac. To get her to stay here, in the twenty-first century, with him.
Because he does love her, even if he’s only just stopped being a bloke, and finally got his head around the bloody scary idea.
The noise stops. Diane’s there, kissing him.
“Any Spitfires still flying?”
“Ask Jack. Actually, don’t. He’ll never shut up.”
Diane laughs. Owen smiles, and kisses her again.
