Corner Gas

I've been getting into a Canadian sit-com shown on SBS called Corner Gas. I first saw an episode of this over in Perth, and thought it was a weekly show, but SBS have been showing it Mon - Wed at a 5:30pm time slot.

The show centres around the staff and regulars of a cafe, general store, and petrol station at Dog River, somewhere in the wilds of Saskatchewan (where it's actually shot). And yes, it's all full of fun quirky characters who play off one another in various ways. The tag-line reads "Forty kilometres from nowhere and way beyond normal" which just about sums it up.

But, I find it very funny, and clever as well. Yesterday's episode started with the Canadian Prime Minister broadcasting a speech and being interrupted by Brent. When I checked the credits it really was the Canadian Prime Minister!

A small thing, but it makes me laugh (oh, and Wanda reminds me of a real-life New Zealand friend of mine).
