Leviathan
I have a book out of the local library called The Book of Leviathan. This isn't the famous one by Hobbes, but a collection of strips by Peter Blegvad. These all appeared in The Independent and feature the main character of the same name, and friends (mostly a cat).
These are delightfully whimsical and yet philosophic, gently (and sometimes not so gently) questioning things. You can see some of these strips at the Leviathan Archive and here's a sample below:
