Got away late, but got to see
Beowulf at the cinema today.
A funny film and you can almost see the testosterone saturating it. A clever variation on the story which like
Sleepy Hollow, meets the original but adds more. I don't know which is more macho, this film or
300 - they both feature raw masculine bodies, though this one is entirely animated. There are peculiarities about the faces of the characters.
I had to be amused though - there's a scene where the title character fights the monster Grendel in the nude.Great care is taken to not show his genitalia at any point. All I could think of was
Austin Powers! Also, the characterisation in this seems improved from
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, where everybody in it seemed stuck in
the valley of the Uncanny. Finally, it's also obvious that this was meant to be a 3D film, though I saw bit in 2D only - there's too many things poked out at the audience for it to be anything else, and the credits confirm this.
Afterwards I did a little bit of shopping and bumped into Kevin, who was shopping in Coles. We split up some of the shopping but I had to rush to go to the reject shop and ALDI's before catching the last bus home. Kevin was on his bike, and on the way home he bought a 2nd hand
MC2 Racing Wheel with Pedals for me at a garage sale.
Always wanted to play these racing games with a proper steering wheel, accelerator and brakes. Now all I have to do is find a decent racing program to use it in! Downloaded
Racer but there must be better out there. Kevin says I should get a copy of
The Need for Speed but I didn't want to spend too much money on that.
Was exhausted by the time I got home, and had the runs as well. That'll teach me to eat at
Hungry Jack's.
