Happened to go to Glendale today (to see Corpse Bride) and decided to check out offers and rates for mobile phones. There certainly seems enough vendors out there ready to sell you something (some dumber than others).

The guy at Optus seemed the most informative, and the lass at Vodafone just didn't listen (no, I want a pre-paid, not a monthly ( Read more... )

I really do - I upgrade every 12-18 months.
It's a shame the girl at Vodafone didn't listen to you because they're the best deal around. I think what she meant was the monthly pre-paid value bundle plan of either $49, $79 or $149 which is equal to $200, $500 & $1200. Problem is you have to spend $49 etc a month to keep it going, and if you don't use it, the credit expires.
I'm with them too, and I get $30 credit which gives me 60 free TXT & a few hours of free vodafone to vodafone - It also doesn't expire as quickly as the value bundle plan.
Telstra have done nothing but fuck my boyfriend around and I find their phones overpriced ((some are $100 more than they should be))!! So beware of certain places!

yeah, I'm on the $49 vodafone cap, but I find I really have to make an effort to use all that credit - I'd be better off getting the $30 vodafone plan, since I mostly send Txt anyway (why does no one ever answer their goddamn phones?!?) but it's hard to resist the lure of thinking, "for an extra $19, I can have unlimited use of my phone for a month!"

Laura, if you do get a second hand phone, you can buy a SIM for any network you like.
