Ballet and an Agent!

Well it was about time I updated right? ...I hope. Lol

Well, after the circus left town and I did not run away with it, life settled back to normal. I got to go back to my acting class and see my friends again, it was like I hit 'play' on my old life lol.

In June I started taking Ballet lessons! Very random...I used to do it as a little girl, but then I guess I didn't like being the chubby ballerina of the group and quit. A friend let me know of this project the city has of a Free Dance School and we had to send resumés and choose either ballet or comtemporary (for beginners).

I didn't declare a preference at first, but I wanted comtemporary because I thought it would help me work with some body languag/eexpression, which is great and necessary for acting. However, I got picked for ballet, and now I am glad I did. I am really liking it and it is SO hard. It's frustrating to get it wrong, but last class I felt an improvement. I managed to not mess up any of the routines (I have a real problem with coordinating when the music is fast or if we have to use arm and leg at once lol).

Now as for the agent. For actors things don't work quite the same here as they do in Hollywood as far as agents and agencies go, but I am starting to see similarities. As a beginner I was really unaware of how to get representation, until I started to learn about talent agencies. People don't work with one agent they are assigned to, but the agency as a whole.

The thing is, some agencies here (that actually are legit, not scams) charge a small fee for you to enroll, so obviously they accept anyone, just to get that money. From what I hear from the people who joined, they never got many calls for auditions.

So my teacher told me to contact his agency and they work differently. They really don't charge anything, as it should be, so their selective process is a bit more criterious. I sent my resumé and a photo (they do not ask for headshots but actually very..simple photos, taken from your own home camera, no make up and all). They set up an appoin tment and I went there today, and now I have representation! Yay!!!

I know I need to keep working and improving myself, but this is an open door, and I have faith it'll bring good things!
