i thought i grew a lot as a person in the last couple of years, but now im realizing that i just pushed things down, and im really no more mature or better off than i was before. im in such a low place right now musically and socially

just based on the video of the koussivitzky, i think you're definitely at a good level to be going to tanglewood...like at a point where you can get advice from more advanced players (talk to blake a lot!), but also be in a position to help other people, which is cool too (and blake will definitely ask you for feedback and opinions on his playing, so beat him up and tear him apart and tell him that he's the worst player ever just because it's really fun to do so, haha) plus lessons with people and just hanging around and listening to other awesome bass players will make you better musician
for what it's worth, i think you're an awesome player and a cool person, so you're going to have such a good time--plus, you already know libby, who will make a point of knowing everyone there by name by the end of the summer (seriously) so i'm sure she'll introduce you to lots of people if you want...and bass players just hang out together all the time anyway (and you even get to hang out with them in the dorm which always sounded fun--something i never got to do due to biological differences, meh)...ahh i'm so excited for your summer and i'm not even going...all the more reason to visit, i suppose, heh
