Couldn't think of an appropriate B5 quote...

Hey readers... um... readers? Hello...?

Suppose the complete lack of me posting anything has something to do with that. To tell the truth it seems I'm either too busy to bother, or I forget when it's finally quiet, until I'm bored and start raking through my bookmarks for something to check.

So what's been happening? Well since... um, Easter-ish was the last update? Since then I've handed in all the courseworks - some more half-arsed than others - and had some grades back. Looks like I've made it through to next year which is what counts, it's not certain though. Our group project got finished up very well. Over Easter and the couple of weeks afterwards we made massive leaps and got a full level finished, two different characters, and integrated Ambx (which adds flashy lights, a rumble bar on the keyboard and fans blowing air in your face). Quite a few folk stopped by to try it at the showcase, and I suspect a few stayed because of the fans - it was quite a warm day. After the showcase there was a party but we ended up having a few beers at the union instead. Good fun.

Since then I've been trying to relax. It's harder than it used to be. After a semester of rushing to meet deadlines only to be told "by the way, you still have to hand in X this week, then Y next week, then..." it's kinda hard to kick that feeling of there being something I have to do. Every time I fire up Oblivion or sit down to paint with some B5 on in the background there's some "residual guilt" for lack of a better term.

Speaking of B5, the change of approach in my collection is going well. I have my last fleet on ebay now, and so far I've made between £200 and £300 on selling old stuff. A seller has recently been putting up some of the items I'm looking for, so I've been getting the ones I could. Some competing bidders have been bidding above retail prices (why, I have no idea. You can still buy the stuff normally) so I haven't won everything, but I've made a start.

In order to get a little more funding toward it all, I've started taking commissions from fellow wargamers. There is a market for that sort of thing, and a few other folks build and paint stuff for those who don't have the time or skill, but do have the money to pay someone else to do it. This decision was kind of unexpected - I had done one in the past for a friend and posted it on DeviantArt, and some guy messaged me asking if he'd do the same for him. There was $50 in it for me so it ain't like I'd refuse. It's been quite fun to work on something I'd normally never have done myself, and then get paid for it!

Summer's looking to be fairly quiet. The folks are going down south to Devon again, but I think I'd rather stay home this time. It's a nice place, but I'd rather wait a while before going again. I think I did all the interesting stuff there is to do that can't be done here, and besides that all it's got is warm weather.

Apart from all that, it's business as usual. See you in a few weeks! :p
