A day of mixed blessings...

After being nervous and worried for most of yesterday, we all sighed in relief when my sister-in-law went into labour at around 10.30 yesterday evening. She gave birth to a healthy baby girl (just under 3kg) just before 8 this morning (well technically yesterday morning, as it's past midnight).

I went into my group interview feeling all excited, and did my best. I then rushed to work, and managed to be only 6 or 7 minutes late, despite almost missing my bus to work due to getting back to Turku at 5 p.m. I'd been told at the interview that they'd let us know this evening if we'd landed a spot in tomorrow's individual interviews. They rang me as I was walking home from the bus stop after work, and said that though I'd been one of the good candidates, I wasn't going through to the next round. I thanked them for letting me know and then sulked the rest of the way home. Despite my initial misgivings about the job, I was genuinely pissed off when I heard I hadn't gone through, as I'd decided I would like a go at it after all. I did feel a bit better when I was waiting for the bus from Turku to Helsinki, but still ended up spending maybe 30 minutes trying to stop myself from mentally beating myself up over it.

Gaaaah... Back to the drawing board and square one on the job front then.
