Monday Monday
Hi everyone! It's Monday, and that means it's time for me to try make the start of your week more enjoyable by sharing awesome links with you. YAY! :D There are a bunch of games this week, I hope no one minds! ♥
Things to Awesome-Up Your Monday
1. Let's start off with something sweet--the Cupcake Game! (Okay okay, apologies for the horrible pun--please don't hurt me.) This woman made 100 cupcakes based on well-known board and video games, and all of them are tremendously adorable. How many of the games can you guess? :D Seriously, this just delights me because a) cute cupcakes! *_* and b) YAY TRIVIA!
2. After I posted the gorgeous library pics a bit ago, gypsy_sunday linked me to The Library Hotel, so I thought I'd better share with you guys--uh, dream vacation or DREAM VACATION? *quiet sigh of envy*
3. Okay, next: first game! Wake Up The Box, which is pretty much what it sounds like--there's a sleeping box, and you have to wake it up by figuring out how to get various items on the screen to knock it over. This actually requires quite a bit of cleverness, so it's a good challenge and takes a little time to figure out! . . . and to be honest, I keep playing it because I have MAD VINDICTIVE LOVE for the horrified look on the box's face when you manage to wake it up. I'M SORRY, I'M A HORRIBLE PERSON. But a horrible person who enjoys herself. >:D
4. Second game: This Is the Only Level. The first of two elephant games, and the first of two DELIGHTFULLY META games. Oh man. GAME META. I don't know why this makes me so happy, but it does. As the description says, "Use your keen knowledge of gaming and dexterity to manhandle your way through a variety of challenges. Get your mind out of the box for once! Take it outside for a walk, or maybe grab a bite to eat with it." Plus the game is just cuuuute.
5. Third game (and second elephant game *grin*): Achievement Unlocked. OH MAN, I LOVE THIS SO DAMN MUCH. It's just really fun! Plus it has hilarious music. "Who needs gameplay when you have ACHIEVEMENTS? Don't worry about beating levels, finding ways to kill enemies, or beating the final boss... there are none. Focus solely on your ultimate destiny... doing random tasks that have nothing to do with anything. Metagame yourself with ease! Self-satisfaction never felt so... artificial!" And HAVE A GOOD TIME. If you only play one of these games, I say pick this one, it's just a ton of silliness and awesome win. \o/
6. Okay, that's all the games, promise! Next up, something beautiful and fascinating: The Weirdest Clouds That You'll Ever See. I love photographs of clouds, and these are AMAZING. If you liked the waves last week, you'll like these! ♥
7. For the fontgeeks on my flist (I know I'm not the only one!), 40 Excellent Logos Created With Helvetica. I almost posted this last week, then decided it probably wouldn't appeal to many people, but I couldn't stop thinking about how interesting it was, so you can have it this week! :D A great argument for simplicity in design, I think.
8. Hilarious BSG/BATMAN COMIC MASHUP betweenthebliss sent me earlier today! Or BATMANSTAR GALACTICA, as I call it in my head. And out loud. Just now. 8D
9. A really, really awesome plus-size photoshoot in V magazine. I LOVE this shoot, it's GORGEOUS and really, exactly the kind of thing more magazines should be doing! And equally awesome, none of that weird "thin girls aren't REAL women" thing in the accompanying commentary. \o/ Just a lovely artistic shoot. YAY.
