Enjoyed this so much!sophie_deangirlMay 13 2012, 17:43:03 UTC
I liked Moonlight when it first aired, but it didn't strike the same cord as Buffy or Angel did, still, Alex O'Loughlin gave Mick a quality that made watching the show worthwhile. Oddly, I didn't care for the romances, both with Beth and Coraline, though I couldn't help enjoying that a romantic interest had my name hahaha!
I enjoyed Mick's journey more. This episode was my favorite because he sacrificed staying human to protect someone he loved, a romantic gesture that I'm a sucker (no pun intended - hahaha) for.
I love how you describe his thoughts as well as his wonder of rediscovery. I especially love his examination about his soul. The beauty of Moonlight was that Mick possessed a compassion for humanity even after being turned so it begged the question of how much a soul can be retained or if there might be more to having humanity than having a soul. Awesome!
Fave part:
He'd always struggled with that idea, because, even though most vampire lore was a joke, there was one thing all the old legends had in common.
A vampire always lost his soul.
Now that he was starting to remember just what it felt like to be human…Mick couldn’t help but wonder if that were true.

Thank you so much! :) As always your reviews are incredibly appreciated!
I got pulled into Moonlight last October when they ran a marathon on the Syfy channel. I stopped when I saw Alex O'Loughlin, and watched an episode. I was too busy with school to watch more, but the show intrigued me, and I wound up looking for fan fic. Then I bought the DVDs, and got pulled into the fandom completely (as you can probably guess form all the Moonlight fics I've written, lol. :) I was happy to finally have a chance to catch up on posting them here on LJ! Still have to do FF.N, lol.) I'm a total Mick/Coraline shipper, I admit. Something about them just fascinates me.
I'm so glad that you liked this particular fic!
It really does seem that in the ML universe, being a vampire changes you, but how much and in which ways they don't really say, so it was fun to play with that. :)

-- Love this wonder on his part.
