Things I don't understand :)
I'm going to be 21 on August 8th, and it seemed like a good time to remind myself that I still have a lot to learn, so, here are 21 things I don't understand. :)
Things I don't understand about life:
1. I don't understand why toasters have so many settings. They only need three: Might as well be raw, possibly salvageable, and charcoal briquette.
2. I don't understand why it's so easy to remember the bad, but hard to remember the good.
3. I don't understand why hope never seems to leave completely, no matter how many times you've been let down in the past. (Glad it doesn't though. :) )
4. I don't understand how people can be so angry with a God they claim they don't believe in.
5. I don't understand how time passes so quickly when you're having fun, but drags on endlessly when you're not.
6. I don't understand why it can be so hard to tell someone how you feel about them if they mean a lot to you, but when you're angry, it's much easier to give them a piece of your mind.
7. I don't understand why it's harder to appreciate what you have than it is to complain about what you're still missing.
Things I don't understand about the Lord:
1. I don't understand how God can be so patient with me, when I sometimes think I might have given up on me a long time ago.
2. I don't understand how God saw the worst in me and still said, "I love you, and I died for you."
3. I don't understand why God chooses to speak in a still, small voice.
4. I don't understand how God runs the universe, and still has time to paint a sunset at the end of every day.
5. I don't understand how the earth can be God's footstool. It doesn't seem big enough. :)
6. I don't understand how people can look at the beauty around them and not see God for themselves.
7. I don't understand why God uses broken pieces to make the most incredible works of art.
Things I don't understand about my heart:
1. I don't understand why I never stop dreaming big dreams.
2. I don't understand why I sometimes do the things I don't want to do, and don't do the things I want to do.
3. I don't understand what it is that makes me face any embarrassing situations with my head held high.
4. I don't understand why I love reading/writing stories where my favorite character dies.
5. I don't understand how I can be happy that something is over but miss it too.
6. I don't understand why being polite is usually second nature for me.
7. I don't understand how I can sometimes feel both ambitious and lazy. (It's possible, trust me, lol. ;))
