And now we're making a Beast Wars Role Play!

Aug 30, 2007 23:17

Trumpets blared in a traditional grand and symphonic fashion as a group of maximals entered a crowded waiting room with an old TV that had just started airing the six o clock news. They could smell the tension as soon as they passed through the door. Everyone’s attention was half on the TV and half on the person sitting next to them. Of course, that was to be expected since the room was filled with two-dozen soldiers, half of them maximal and half of them predacon. And tensions were always high between maximals and predacons, especially after the Beast Wars. Of course, the two anchors on the screen were oblivious to them.

“Welcome to the CNN-Cybertron Network News, at six. I’m your anchor Colberto Stellar.”

“And I’m Anncellucon. Breaking the trend we’ve had for the past week, our top story tonight is not on the ongoing trial of Predacon Megatron but rather the upcoming decision passed by the Cybertronian Council regarding potential risks in the use of warp tenchnology.”

“That’s right Annecellucon. Warp technology, when it was first introduced, seemed like it was sent straight from the matrix. With its ability to travel several light-years in almost no time whatsoever, it immediately outdated every other starship before it. But it also had a problematic side effect. Namely, warp technology gone awry warps not only space, but time as well.”

“The potential disasters to history can be exploited and certain individuals have already tried. One such individual was in fact the original Megatron, who left a message behind to future decepticons regarding time warps in case he lost the Great War. A rogue group of predacons led by today’s Megatron obtained that message and sought to use warp technology to alter history in the decepticons favor, but were eventually stopped and brought to justice after a total of eleven casualties.”

“The decision on whether or not to place restrictions on warp technology because of its side effects has been hotly debated with no clear standing majority. Most surprisingly is that unlike most other political issues, this does not fall along Maximal and Predacon lines. The two largest opinions are that warp technology’s benefits are too great to restrict or that the threat of time alteration is to great to allow. Of course there have also been the expected fringe groups such as Utopians or Religious extremists.”

“Hold on for one second, Colberto.” The female anchor had a look of shock and disbelief fall across her face as she received a binary code message on her COM link. “….this just in, I’m receiving word right now that the Cybertronian Council has in fact just now reached their verdict. We take you there live.”

The view on the television set quickly changed to the chamber of the Cybertronian council, which ironically was just as crowded as the waiting room. The ruling robots also gathered around a television, albeit a much larger one of more recent technology. There were a few seconds of chatter that were quickly silenced as the stern yet assuring face of Optimus Primal appeared upon it.

“First of all I’d like to thank all of you for your patience as we’ve handled this problematic issue and for your understanding that I couldn’t be with you in person.” He said in a cheery tone that failed to mask the obvious stress in his face. “I regrettably have some very pressing issues which I won’t bore you with seeing how you all want to hear the verdict.”

He cleared his throat and spoke in a voice so serious that it could only come from countless years of military service, “It is the decision of this council by majority vote that the use of trans warp technology is restricted indefinitely. This restriction will last until technological innovations can prevent trans warp time interference in any and all trans warp engines. All individuals using trans warp technology must cease immediately or be in violation of the law.”

The image of Optimus Primal quickly faded from the screen, leaving behind a hall of robots to either cheer, boo, hiss, or argue amongst one another. The hall of soldiers was about to do the same thing when all of a sudden a loud speaker in the waiting room boomed, “Attention! Would the following robots please enter the door on your left if you hear your spark identification code is called! Ω1286, Φ4561, ξ9012, Θ1045, ω0104, and Ǿ1646. Everyone else may leave via the lighted exits!”

As most of the robots began to cycle out, the six who were called clumsily pushed their way through the crowd and into the door on the other side of the room. As they passed through the entrance, they noticed it was dark and their optical receivers were useless. As they strained their sensors to survey the surrounding environment, the door suddenly closed behind them with a loud clang. An overhead lamp quickly flickered to life, revealing a serious faced Optimus Primal sitting at the desk in front of them. Ignoring their shock, he quickly spoke up. “You’re all here. Well, that’s just prime. First things first I suppose. Everyone pass me you’re soldier Intel.”

((Sign up forms begin! Everyone write down your basic info. Everyone gets a long-range weapon, melee weapon, and accessory for combat purposes…even though I know what everyone’s going to pick already. If you want to turn one of your basic weapons into a super weapon (aka, regular sword to light saber), that counts as an accessory. Flight is an accessory as well. You could grant a back history to your character if you want, but seeing how we’re transformers, there shouldn’t be THAT much to say.))
