Goblin King's Wardrobe: Escher Duel and Bruised Owl

Nov 17, 2011 11:21

The last entry in the series on Jareth's costumes in "Labyrinth". These two costumes (Escher Duel and Bruised Owl) are fairly unique outfits without a lot of shared elements from other costumes, except for the Somewhat Shiny Charcoal Pants and His Own Boots/Gloves in the Escher scene.

Probably some of you already know that there are "hidden Jareths" in the movie. Quite a few, in fact, and I don't know them all. But here are two I spotted while doing screencaps for this costume series. So, for fun, can you spot him? :-)

8.Escher Duel

Jareth and Sarah face off alone. 'Cause that’s how it is done.

You can see the doublet is all one piece here, sleeves are in one with the leather vest-like portion.

Good look at Bowie's mismatched eyes here.

Blood and Leather Dueling Doublet - I love this piece: the colour, the velvet, the fact that it covers your lower belly... Can you tell this is one of the outfits I want to make? ;-)

Somewhat Shiny Charcoal Pants - these pictures don't show them well, but I remember this was a pretty good scene for these pants. They're quite simple, dark charcoal grey, tight and a little shiny, no visible seams or closures that I saw (though I'm sure it must at least have side seams.)

His Own Boots Polished Up - this is definitely a scene where his boots look shinier and blacker.

His Own Gloves

Power is turned Upside Down and Inside Out - the Power symbol is inverted to bronze with silver now and embedded upside down into the chestpiece.

Dream Crystals

9. Bruised Owl

A defeated Jareth tries one last time.

They did a good job with his make-up here. It's still the same basic pattern, but all bruised and pale. Much like his costume. Lots of skeletal stuff continues.

Good make-up reference, also can see Bowie's wild eyes here too.

Ghastly Shirt
Ghostly Pants
Wraithly Cape
His Own Boots Desaturated - I even wonder if they just painted a pair of his regular boots.
Bronze Pendant of Power - it's still inverted bronze with silver, like the Escher Duel, but on a pendant here.
Ivory? Gloves - same as Masquerade maybe?
Dream Crystal

And there they all are (well, except for the tiny scene where he's in disguise as a beggar with a mask. It went by so quickly I didn't even think to screencap it. And of course, he can also change into a Barn Owl.)

Now you know what the Goblin King has in his wardrobe.

Since I haven't finished raiding Jareth's closet, I'm planning to make the Skeletal Floaty Cape which, plus my Magic Dance outfit, will give me the Battle Stations costume. And it will be big and floaty and awesome.

And then I think I might tackle the Escher Duel because it's my favourite, even if it's not all that recognizable.

And then I will (probably) be done :-)
