DOCTOR WHOOOO, HEY, DOCTOR WHO!
And it was totally awesome. So totally awesome. I may need a rewatch today, because the thing about Moffat is he likes sneaking in clues in throwaway lines of dialogue, most of which I probably missed.
I really like River Song now. How did that happen? OK, actually, I do know how that happened. THAT SPEECH, OMG. <3 And the synchronising diaries scene. And the fact that before I said, 'I feel like I could like River so much if they gave her backstory and didn't just have her pop up as a Woman Of Mystery'. And now we have backstory (ish) and I am happy. THAT SPEECH. It may not be terribly subtle, but I love the River/Amy parallel and Rory's reaction.
And Rory in general, I love him so much. Rory the Roman! Rory, who is very much not in need of getting shot!
And the Scotland Yard cover story! (It travels in space and time? How long have Scotland Yard had this?')
Although. Amy. 'The Legs', Moffat, really? I mean, I can sort of, sort of buy the Doctor thinking 'Amy has long legs, Rory has a prominent nose, that'll do!', but I feel like Moffat probably wasn't thinking that at the time. And so it seems needlessly objectifying, and at least for Rory you're actually looking at his face. But. I will just keep telling myself that the Doctor is alien enough not to notice the implications and avoid annoyance. Because I like Amy (taking a photo of the alien! They'd better not leave that thread hanging!) and it does annoy me when even the Doctor seems to see her only in terms of her attractiveness. Also, I feel like her being pregnant is... OOC for some reason? She wants adventures in time and space, and all the universe to explore! And in these modern times, if she didn't *want* to get pregnant, it's not likely she would have. And I can't really buy her wanting to, not yet, not when all last season she was so conflicted about marriage and settling down. I have seen theories it's all a clever red herring, though, so maybe...
BUT! I am looking forward to having lots of companions running around and doing exciting things, and I like how huggy Eleven is (and I think it's insanely endearing that he still calls Amy 'Pond'), and oh my god the timey-wimey. <3 I just tend to ramble more about the things that annoy me.
