I've just found out that the unit we're doing in Physics at the moment is called 'The Rise and Fall of the Clockwork Universe'. It sounds like what might happen if David Bowie was ever introduced to clockpunk. (Also, there so needs to be an anthology or a clockpunk/steampunk novel called that. I would buy it like a shot, and then read it prominently in Physics classes.)
I have also learnt a Useful Life Skill today. Namely, that if you've lost the Magic Tool (TM) that Apple give you with your iPhone, an earring is just the right size to do the job.
And I have done no work at all. Instead, I've spent the morning reading Interference and the afternoon making character sheets and drawing maps for my NaNo idea. I haven't drawn maps in years! Not since I was reading Lord of the Rings for the third time and planning how I'd organise a dwarf mine (IDK, it involved lots of forges drawn in sparkly gold gel pen. I want to say 'I was seven, OK?' but if I'm honest, it was nearer twelve). I am SO excited for November, it's unbelievable. Still attempting to induce others at school to join me in the madness. I've slipped a copy of the promo poster to one of the English teachers so... we'll see.
