"I need to change my travel agent," Joker groused to himself, flicking a spatter of grey matter and bone chips off one jacket-sleeve. The too-long sleeve rolled down, his hand vanishing. The only thing that stuck out was the long barrel of the pistol he carried. "Hhmph. Need to see a tailor, too, come to think of it. I'll have to staple a note ( Read more... )

It is a good, good thing that Selina has been getting up and around more. In fact, that the cast is all but off her ankle. She's dressed in a comfortable looking sweater and long skirt. It is a good thing because as she comes out of her room and looks toward the rapping on the window she has two impulses.

The first is to run. Which is intelligent and stupid at the same time. Handy that. The second is to kick him in the face and watch him fall to the ground below. Also much the same. So what she takes, is option three.

Making her way over to the window, showing hardly any limp at all, she opens the window, eyes narrowed at him just a bit. "It doesn't matter if I invited you in or not, since you'll come inside either way."

"Well, I'd prefer not having to shoot my way in. Running low on bullets. I'm in a conservation phase." He twirled the pistol idly, pointing it lazily over one shoulder. "Want to bet I can hit someone like this? I know I'd like those odds..."

"I'd really rather not take those odds and I'd really rather not get shot." Selina makes her way back into her apartment, starting to head toward her kitchen. She really needs something to drink. Coffee sounds good right about now.

She's leaving the window open for him to come inside.

He clambers in slowly, nimbly sidestepping a cat who's lounging beneath the window. Joker chuckles, putting the gun into an inner pocket of his coat, patting it.

"I'm going to be covered head-to-toe in hair when I leave here, aren't I, Kitty?"

Selina takes a moment to look vaguely in the direction of the ceiling and takes a small breath in, "I should hope not, other wise I need to find a new cleaning service." While there are only two cats who are actually in residence, there are others who come in and out of the apartment while she's here.

"So, should I ask why you're here or should I just wait?"

"I'll get around to it eventually, Selina. Just let me tell the story in my own way. Have a scoche of patience, dear. I don't know how you do the job you do without it. Obviously, you're successful, I mean, I don't see a tunnel through your brain, so you must've learned how to quell that cat-like curiousity somewhere along the way..."

Joker's attention wanders at a picture of Holly sitting on an end table.

"Say...who's that? I've been thinking about adopting..."

"I have patience plenty, thanks." Carefully she makes her way into the kitchen and pours herself a mug of coffee, slipping sugar into it.

Selina glances at the picture and then back to the clown, "She's not up for adoption. If I find any that are, I'll let you know."

"What, no coffee offered to the guest? Selina, tsk tsk tsk..." Joker waggled one finger at her, glancing at the other hand, the one with the gun in it. "Must be going soft in my old age, Catty. You know, these kids today...but you and I, we share a special bond. We're old school...not like these newbie kids with no respect for their elders..."

"/Do/ you want coffee?" Selina smiles over at him sitting down as if she doesn't care what the answer is. Yes, he scares the hell out of her but she'll be damned if she'll show him that.

"That we are, though some of the newer ones aren't all that bad. Things have gotten darker and stranger as time has gone on." If he wants to reminisce, she can do that.

"Darker," he parrotted, an ugly edge creeping into his voice, "You haven't seen dark, pussycat." His voice dropped to a low, sinuous purr, his eyes hooding behind their lids. "But it's coming. Like Bobby Dylan said, a hard rain, blah blah blah. I just want to make sure that when there's killing to be done, it's me holding the knife. Love that first rush of blood, after all."

Selina's eyes narrow at him and she leans back in the chair, taking a small sip of her coffee. She just sits there, looking at him, waiting.

"There's rats in the corn, Selina," Joker snarled, "No honor among the thickest of thieves, and what are you, but another thief. I don't know why I came." He rose, snapping to his feet with the speed of the truly, deeply crazy, startling the animals in the room. "Tell him. I know you see him, I know you have this crazy pie-in-the-sky thing with him that none of the rest of us every understood...you tell him that there's big business coming, and if he plays it right...if I play it right, he'll be able to clear a lot of peices off the board, and he'll owe me for it. You won't forget that message, will you Selina? Want me to write it down?"

"I think I've got that." Selina watches him, not sure what she did or didn't do in this specific moment to have upset him.

She pauses and looks at him, "I think you came because if you had an offer, if you were starting something..." Selina shrugs a bit, playing a hunch, "I'm not normally a team player and it would have to be quite a thin to get me interested."

"I suppose the question is," Joker said, suddenly all bright rays of sunshine again, "When you raise an army, Selina...who would you go to? Would you pick people you knew you could trust? Or would you nip back over to our side of the tracks? Knowing how crazy our type of people are...and don't you ever forget, Selina, you're our kind of people. No matter how much you wanna convince yourself you aren't...you are."

Joker rose, stepping lightly to the window, shooting a glare at a cat that hissed when he got within fifteen feet.

"Think about it, Catwoman...before someone else figures out all the best ways to skin a you. I'll see myself out. Thanks for the chat."

Selina narrows her eyes, not certain is that was a personal threat or if it was an invitation.

Or both.

"You're welcome. I'll be sure to pass on the message when I get a chance."
