Atheism or Anti-faith?

Lately I'm more annoyed by atheists than I am the Christians. Whoda thunk? I've been hearing more people trying to convince me about how there is no god and life has no meaning than I have had people trying to convert me to whatever faith. Oh the irony ( Read more... )

It does seem kind of odd, with more religions that go door to door as it were there is a mandate in their beliefs that tells them to do so. Who is mandating that the Atheists try and convert you?

No one, it's instinct to swing people to one's point of view.

Well, again, Richard Dawkins makes some pretty good points about turning people away from religious dogma and towards science: The Rapture people who WANT the end of the world, Global warming, evolution and epigenomes, POPULATION-having kids is NOT a good thing.
Nothing gets done if people are sitting around waiting for God to fix it instead of looking at the facts.

Ok, generally nothing gets done until the problem interferes with one's own habitat and way of life.

Dawkins is a sharp guy, and he does bring up some interesting questions. But in the end his vaunted atheism and scientific rationality can lead to sectarian group-think, absolutism, and even schismatic violence. Replacing religious dogma with atheistic dogma still leaves us with the problems of dogmatism.
Believing in a higher power does not make one irrational. The irrationality is the extremism coming from BOTH SIDES. We all know how ridiculous some religious texts can sound. But how far can the human race truly evolve if we cut ourselves off spiritually? Why is it so difficult to accept both consciousness and form? That Science and Faith can peacefully co-exist?

I TOTALLY agree. Which is why I remain at arm's length.

I think if there was ONE THING that would help this planet's natural environment the most -aside from total extinction of the human race-, it would be universal belief in reincarnation and seeing the earth as a respected parent instead of a resource.

first part should be in quotes but, I don't know how to edit a reply. You get the point anyway.
