but not cause we want eternal sleep
The navy was here this weekend. The anticipation was good...fun times with americans for the last time until december...but the delivery was a slap into exactly what I don't like about americans.
some were ok don't get me wrong...but listening to many of them talk made me hurl. My boss was quite shocked at how ignorant some of the officers were to basic military issues...which is scary.
The bonus was that I got to be their tour guide and take them to ancient mysterious ruins called Nan Madol and then to a waterfall called Keproi (not that I'd ever been there before friday). We swam and played in the water and it was fantastic until I found out that there were giant eels. At first I laughed about it and didn't believe until I saw one. Thankfully it was during the last tour right when we were getting out to avoid flash floods.
Currently I am living with my boss' wife because he is in Manila getting a kidney stone removed and she has windows in her house...and is quite fantastic. It is nice to have someone to talk to in the evenings.
This weekend I went out with the family of the man who owns the hotel I live in. It is legal to drink and drive here. I don't think that the driver was physically drinking in the car nor was he as wasted as the rest of us were...but we could just take our drinks from the bar, bring them into the car and keep going. crazy.
O O...the best part about life for me is that I have the coolest project ever!!! I get to plan a tourism exchange sypmosium for the tourism students at the college and take them to Palau or Seipan!!! It is so exciting, and my trip is totally paid for!!!
There are many dog fights..my personal favorite was between a normal dog and one with a head that was stuck cocked to the side...they were fighting on a hill and normal dog ran away...cocked head dog tried to follow but his head was cocked down the hill...so he fell that way. It was pretty much amazing.
