Straight edge is a total joke. It's not the idealogy per se, but the initialization of such that bothers me. Choosing not to drink or smoke or whatever is great, but saying that you do so because of some arbitrary rules misinterpereted and laid down back in the mid-80's is just ridiculous. It's sort of like saying you don't kill people because the Bible says not to. Well no, you don't kill people because killing people is wrong. You don't shoot heroin because shooting heroin is stupid. I just find it hard to believe that anyone could possibly take themselves seriously when their main categorization of their ideals is totally cookie-cutter. Live life on your own terms, not what some punk tells you.
