Sam still couldn’t fathom how he’d let his brother convince him to come to such a place. This wasn’t them and they didn’t have money for this. When he’d come up with that argument, Dean went all in and did get him to say yes. He had been crippled by a terrible cold all week and Dean had grown tired of the shivering and teeth chattering. At some point, his big brother had put his fist on the table and said ‘enough’.

And now here they were, in some relaxation resort. The only thing that mattered to him was the fact that it housed a hot spring. He’d seen the pictures on the promotional pamphlets and had let himself fall for it.

He came out of the locker room wearing his bathing suit and his sandals. Dean was waiting for him with a wide grin and he looked so excited about it that Sam couldn’t burst his bubble.

The chilly air against his skin quickly got him shivering and turning blue. Dean frowned in concern. “Dude, again with the chills? Why’d you think I got you a bathrobe in the first place? So that you could carry it around and show it off? C’mon!” Dean pressed as he forced his shivering brother into the robe. Sam felt his masculinity die at that moment. But he did feel warmer already.

“What would you do without me?” Dean asked with a rising grin. Sam rolled his eyes.

“I wouldn’t be in a ‘spa’ wearing a ‘robe’, that is…” Sam mumbled.

Dean pushed him towards the exit door, unfazed by his brother’s complaints. “Of course, Sammy. When you stop trying to turn into a Samsicle, you’ll thank me”

Sam puckered his lips and tilted his head. Dean stared at this perfect bitchface and bit back a chuckle. His little brother was just another petulant child who complained about everything beforehand, but became incredibly grateful once forced into something they didn’t want to do and ended up enjoying it.

Sam finally dropped his shoulders in surrender and sighed. “Then what are you doing here, Dean? As far as I know, you’re not sick and you’re not actually into this kind of thing…”

Dean’s grin only shimmered more. “Aw, but that’s where you’re wrong, little brother. I love this kind of thing… When would I say no to a bunch of hot girls in bikinis?” he chuckled, smiling radiantly.

Sam rolled his eyes. Of course that’s what this was all about for Dean. “Please don’t tell me that’s the only reason you proposed to come here”

Dean shrugged. “Why else would I want to be stuck here with a robe and a socially awkward brother” he asked, cocking an eyebrow. Sam’s lips pursed as he bit back any retort that could slip out of him and which he would regret later.

When the outdoor’s air hit them, his nose instantly started to hitch. Before he could stifle it, a whole recital of sneezes exploded out of him. iitchh…ixshnt…iisskkshh…IIXSHNT!!!

Dean turned around in time to catch his bending-over bundle of a sneezy little brother. “Whoa dude, easy. You’ll scare the ladies away” Dean warned with a grimace. Sam gave him the finger and Dean retorted by ruffling the already unruly bangs on his brother’s head. He then handed his miserable brother a wad of tissues, which Sam accepted gleefully.

“Won’d I gondaminade dhe whole sbring?”

Dean cringed at the muffled up sounds that came from his brother, all pointing to massive congestion. He wondered how Sam could even breathe with all that sickness clogging his airway.

“Don’t worry about that. The water’s so hot, it’ll kill anything that still lives up your ass”

Sam forced an unamused smile before following Dean up to the hot spring. It was actually inviting now that he was standing in front of it. He stifled a few incoming sneezes that ended up sounding like breathy huffs. He groaned in discomfort and wiped his nose with the remaining tissues.

Dean hung his towel on the back of a reclining beach chair. He let his flip flops slide off and contemplated the view. Of course it had nothing to do with the mountains and the glistening mist that covered everything to make it look like he was in a dream. His real dream was in a group of late twenties, giggling around in some form of intimate caucus. Dean grinned and descended into the hot water where he could get a closer look.

Sam was following behind, not as quickly as Dean was, and surely not concentrating on the same goals. He did enjoy the view of the mountains while he could tell, without the shadow of a doubt, that his brother was mostly oblivious to it.

The water felt amazing and so relaxing, it soothed every knot and kink he had in his awfully long muscles. The vapors from the water infused into his clogged nose and slowly liberated a passage in his cramped airways. The pressure inside his chest lessened and he felt light for the first time in a long time.

Dean swam up to meet him. “So, what did I tell ya? Feelin’ better?”

Sam opened his eyes to slits and peeked at his brother. Dean was pulling the ‘peacock’ card and if his brother was going to be proud, Sam wouldn’t have it at is expense.

“Yeah. I’m good” he replied simply. Dean ruffled his hair again and Sam pulled away from the gesture, aware that people were looking at them.

“Alright then, Francis. If you don’t mind, I’m gonna follow the wind where it leads me” Dean announced poetically. Sam snorted.

“It’s probably going to drop you in some girl’s cleavage” he retorted. Dean’s smile widened at that.

“Damn, I hope it will”

Sam rolled his eyes. Dean put on a serious face for a second. “You gonna be okay without me?”

It earned him a nod from his little brother. Dean nodded back and walked straight into the group of ladies’ direction. He didn’t waste any time and pulled out his attractive cocky grin.

“Hello ladies, I heard you were looking to get lucky. Well you found me” he purred with his manliest voice. The girls started to giggle.

One of them, a blonde, stepped closer to him with a mockingly surprised face. “Won’t your boyfriend be jealous?” she asked with a smirk. Dean swallowed his smile in surprise.

“He’s my brother, sweet little… lady” he said, sarcastically smiling to bite back an insult. She looked at him with her mouth hanging in an ‘oh’ shape and he nodded sternly.

A brunette was sitting next to him and she appeared to be very interested by his dangerously attractive Winchester genes. Dean noticed her and gave her a wink. She blushed into a shade of crimson red before he realized that it wasn’t the hot spring that was reddening her up.

“I’m Callie, you can sit with me if you want” she blurted out. He smiled, shot one last look at his slumbering brother and sat down next to her. “I’m Dean”

Sam rested his eyes and enjoyed the comfort the heat provided. He was hardly into it when his brother passed by him to inform him that he was going to the cold water fall with the bunch of girls. The mere idea of anything cold rebutted any envy Sam could’ve had towards his brother.

He must have fallen asleep when Dean finally came back and shook him awake. “Hey, Sammy. Still in there? Have you tried the saunas? They’re amazing” Dean cheered.

Sam stirred and tried to put the pieces together. He had no idea how long he’d been in there, but he started to realize that he was thirsty and tired. “D’n” he slurred, trying to recall where Dean had been and why there was a bunch of girls following him.

“Yeah, Sam. Hey, you feelin’ okay?” the eldest asked, suddenly edging towards unhealthy concern for his younger sibling. Sam tried to focus, but he found it increasingly hard to achieve.

“Dizzy…” he finally managed to croak out. Dean frowned.

“Maybe you should take a break from the hot tubs. How long have you been in there, anyway?” Sam shrugged and let his brother help him up and out of the tub.

Dean almost carried his brother out. As soon as Sam stood up for a good two seconds, his knees buckled and he collapsed to the ground. Dean was at his side within seconds. “Sam! Hey Sammy, what’s wrong?” he almost shouted as he grabbed his brother’s head within his hands. He quickly realized that Sam wasn’t conscious.

“Fuck, Sammy!” Dean cursed as his fingers reached for the pulse point on his brother’s neck. Meanwhile, a crowd was starting to form around them. Dean took in the too rapid pulse under his fingers and cursed again. Callie reached his side, scared of the seriousness Dean had fallen into.

The cute guy she’d just met, the one that was goofy and funny, had rapidly turned into a drill sergeant. Before she realized it, he had shoved his towel into her hands. “Go soak this in cold water and run back here, stat” he barked. She was surprised at the order, but Dean’s brother didn’t look good so she obliged.

When she came back with the drenched towel, Dean wrapped his little brother into it. “What’s wrong with him?” she dared ask. He shot a look at her and, seeing on her face that she truly cared, he loosened.

“He’s been in the spring for too long and he’s really warm. Probably dehydrated too. Can you get some water, please?” he asked, his eyes suddenly wide and dewy. She recognized it for what it was - concern - and ran to get some water.

Sam started to come to.

“Whoa, hey kiddo. Take it easy. You with me?” Dean asked suddenly relieved at seeing his brother awake. Sam nodded softly. Callie came back with the water and Dean propped his brother up against his chest. Sam took the bottle, but genuinely leaned into his brother’s touch. His throat felt like sandpaper.

“Better?” Dean asked. It earned him a satisfied nod from his brother.

“Good. Dude, you scared the hell out of me” the eldest breathed out, suddenly letting go of the breath he’d been holding.

“Sorry” Sam breathed out, relaxing in the comfort of the cool towel. Callie’s heart was melting at the brotherly bond she was witnessing and how so much love could be conveyed with so little words. It occurred to her that no girl could ever have Dean’s heart the way Sam did.

Another one of the girls came closer to them and kneeled in front of the brothers. “Are you guys okay? Should we call someone?” she proposed. Dean glared at her and she instantly regretted her mistake.

“We’re good, thanks” Dean snapped.

The blonde walked towards them. Dean kept a wary eye on her. She smiled softly. “I’m sorry about what I said” she started before turning to Sam. “Are you feeling okay?”

As if on cue, Sam shivered and his congestion returned. “ixshnt… ikksh…ikkshnt… ‘m good” he managed to reply through sneezes. Dean pulled him tighter.

“Aw, poor sweetheart. I know what would make you feel better. There’s this eucalyptus sauna that would be amazing for your sinuses… and then… if you’d like… I could give you a massage” she proposed with a wink.

Dean’s jaw dropped. “What about me?” he asked indignantly. The blonde shot him a quick look before returning her attention to Sam.

Dean felt himself boil. “How come you’re the one that’s sick and gross and yet girls still prefer you over me?” he pestered.

Sam snorted. “Id’s cause I’b cude” he tried with his wide dewy eyes shining up at Dean.

“Oh, shut up. You’re hideous” Dean teased, an inevitable smile creeping up his lips.

Sam almost choked on his own throat and finally broke into a laughing fit.

“It’s not fair! You’re the one who faints like a girl and then you get to have all the attention. I’m going to start thinking that you’re doing it on purpose, mister Munchausen” Dean continued.

Sam snuggled in closer into his brother’s chest. “F’ course, I ab. I ged do be dhe only girl you bring back hobe” he retorted, pushing the joke a little farther. Dean grimaced, but he couldn’t push his brother away. He couldn’t imagine them separating. What if something happened to Sam?

Sam closed his eyes. The little monster was growing on his weak spot. Dean sighed in defeat. “You’re right though. I wouldn’t want to have anyone but you by my side” the eldest admitted sappily.

Sam’s eyes snapped open and he looked up at his brother. “Who the hell are you and where is Dean?” he asked with a lopsided grin tugging at the corner of his lips. Dean shoved him playfully.

“Shut up, bitch”

Sam settled back into his brother’s chest and let himself sink into the comfort. Everything was okay as long as Dean was around. But then his nose itched. ‘Shit’ ikksshu…ixhsnt…irshhnt… he rubbed it and gladly accepted the tissues Dean still had left for him.

“Dhanks”

He heard Dean’s laugh and there was something about it… “No but seriously. Don’t think you’re getting off easy” the eldest started.

Sam frowned. “Whad d’you bean?”

Dean giggled. “I mean, come on! Passing out like that in front of the ladies? And because of a hot tub too!” Sam reddened the color of Dean’s bathing suit.

“What are you? A boiling frog? You’re lucky I was there to pick you up when your awfully long legs tangled up” Dean teased.

Sam rolled his eyes. “And you’re lucky I didn’t die” he whispered softly.

Dean stopped laughing and rocked his brother instead. “No way. Not on my watch. You know that I won’t let anything bad happen to you” he promised.

Sam closed his eyes and fell asleep in the safety of his brother’s arms because he knew that it was the truth.
