Saturday in the Park, Think it was the Fourth of Julyyyyy

Okay, so it’s actually the 8th of August.  Close enough!

K, so:

I love Friday nights at the gym.  I had my own lane in the pool, and it was so peaceful.  It was a pretty short workout - 650 m total, with the main set just a 400 m continuous swim.  I felt pretty strong throughout, which is surprising, since I haven’t done much swim training (this is my 3rd or 4th time in the pool in the past 2 weeks).  I definitely think I’m getting stronger, though, which is probably why I felt better than expected.

I turned in early - was sooooo tired from the late night, full workday & then swim session.  Got up this morning around 6:45 am and was out the door shortly after 7 to go bike.  This was my route.  I went from A to E, turned around when I realized I had reached the main road and went back up to F and turned right and continued all the way down to H, where I turned around and went back.  I skipped that little jaunt from F to E on the way back.  I think it was about 16 miles total- finished around 1:06 (was supposed to be a 1:10 ride), and then chained up my bike and ran around the parking lot 2xs - 10:35 min.

I feel great.

I never in my life thought I would be able to exercise like that for so long.  I didn’t have my ipod, either - just me and my thoughts.  I talked to myself out loud a little, but stopped when 2 other bikers snuck up on me and caught me in the act.  Whoops!  I passed a few other bikers along the ride too, which is great - you feel such camaraderie when you’re out there early morning - everyone waves and says “hello” - it’s definitely motivation to keep up with the training.

Anyway,  just stopped in to work to grab my ipod and put up some signs.  Since my ipod is telling me that it’s synced, I’m going to head out - I have a long day of VA exploration to do with TM today!

Woohoo!!  More to come about the adventures that will have ensured.  Perhaps even pictures (?)!!
