The rest is probably spoilery.
I'm going to combine some ideas, so it's probably not going to be all in order.
1. The Bonnie Situation
Finally someone stands up to Elena about how she treats Jeremy. I'm sorry, but my sister and I are about the same age, and I don't think she considers herself so much older and wiser that she'd have to "protect me" from all her drama. Jeremy has been involved in all the drama since day one. I was glad she stood up to her about it, but disappointed that she didn't just completely tell Jeremy everything. I guess she wouldn't since A) she cares about Jeremy and B) she cares about Elena, but at the end of the episode I was hoping that the side-eye he gave her about saying, "It's for the best" and their hug at the end would reveal the truth... maybe she slipped a note in his pocket all magically or something.
2. I don't like Elena punching a punching bag.
She's never going to have the force to punch a real vampire.
3. Holy crap, Rippah Stefan...
Playing offensively doesn't always mean you win, especially if there's a formidable defense... but can ya knock a guy for trying? He was pretty badass this episode, but I'm concerned he's not thinking a couple steps down the road. Damon being unlikely voice of reason, yet again, for another episode - doesn't surprise me. Damon pegged it perfectly... his humanity chip is fried.
oh... and "Friends don't strip friends of their free will." Ha! Unless it's to "protect" the other person, right Stefan?
4. My whole reaction to the Tyler / Caroline ordeal... (which is not the same as the Caroline / Klaus situation).
"Yay! Tyler has free will!"
"Awww, Tyler loves Caroline and is sooo sorry he couldn't be with her... and he gave her a cheap little bracelet"
"Wait, da hell? Don't kiss her neck! Oh god!"
"Tyler doesn't have free will!"
HE'S IN AGONY!
5. My follow-up response to the whole Caroline / Klaus situation.
Caroline is going to be his new love interest?????
He totally buys better jewelry than Tyler... Tyler needs to work on his compulsion.
6. Lots of my notes were about Alaric... and Damon, but not Damon and Alaric.
"Can't a council meeting ever just be a council meeting?" [not when women are in charge of it... ka yuck!]
Alaric looked super shaved and dashing! He's cleaning himself up.
"I come from a long like of Founders, may they rest in peace." says Meredith Fell. Because they are usually the first to die in any "let's kill the Founders" situation.
Yeah, Alaric is way hotter than ex-boyfriend Bryan.
7. Holy crap, stop the car!
I knew that whole thing was going to happen. It was in the extended promo for the episode... However, it was totally not how it played out in my head. I mean, I knew he fed Elena his blood and was threatening to turn her into a vampire, but the whole exchange between Klaus and Stefan was legitimately crazy! And Klaus looked - scared! Stefan is really going to take this as far as it can go - and will it be that Klaus will have to fight his own battles from now on?
Stefan told Elena the fear needed to be real and he was confident Klaus would back down, but holy cow - do you really think he believed that?
Oh, and when he drove off, I was thinking, "Um. Stefan, I need a ride." He threw her phone out of the car and then totally ditched her.
8. Last thoughts...
Damon backing off at the end is exactly why I love Damon --- Thank you for natural progression and not having Elena throw herself at him right after just being assaulted and almost killed by his brother!
Who killed Bryan Walters????
