I'm really glad you liked it!

Ha, ha, in every fandom, with every pairing, there's always one of the characters I'm especially partial to. In this case, it's Eames. I think it shows.

Oh, funny that you address that point because, well, I actually agree with you. I like to think (or I really, really want to), that the fact that Sam is female has nothing to do with it. Michael and Austin were exactly as disposable as she were. It's more of a practical reason and not a romantic one why Arthur stays with her the longest, and it's because he's starting to run out of time, patience and options; that and also because she's the closest thing to Mal he's been able to find. I don't think it was a conscious path the one he's following in that sense--that he's looking for a second Mal, I'm pretty sure he's unaware of it--but it was what I had in mind for him. And the fact is that I wanted to avoid that people (and by people I mean both readers and myself) became too attached to Sam if I gave her a personality and made her too likable. Because it usually breaks my heart when I get fond of the "new lover" and then the damned main character ditch him/her for the one true love whom HE/SHE HASN'T BEEN WITH IN AGES. Hey, maybe your "true love" has changed and now you can't stand him/her anymore! So I wanted to avoid that and chose the disposability, which is unfair and maybe not an elegant solution, but I prefer to think that Arthur is just that kind of an asshole and he's been using her exactly the same way he used the rest of them, so leaving her is not really such a big problem for him. I'm really grateful you mentioned it, though, I'll probably want to avoid it in the future.

And I'm sorry for the ego-ramble-lame-excuses-this-is-longer-than-the-damned-fic-omg comment, since you actually got the "disposability" intention I was aiming for.

Thanks for your comment! :)
