I've delved into the world of product photography! (On a side note, there is so much work in setting up an etsy store! Yowza! For sure it will be less intimidating after I've got it all set up and some products listed, but sheesh! I can't imagine setting up a real store! o.0)

Mostly following this tutorial, I went out and got a lamp, a fancy-pants light bulb (actually not the fancy, I want to go out and replace it with the one mentioned in the blog, if I can find them!) , and some foam core and set up this little studio. That tripod was actually out in our hallway as a freebee, and I am so glad Teddy grabbed it! So helpful! I downloaded the demo of Adobe Photoshop Elements and away I went! (I actually really love Photoshop. I've been using GIMP for a few years, but after using Photoshop for a few hours, it seems to be way more user friendly! Plus there are a LOT more tutorials out there).

Here is a sample photo! This is after spiffing it up a bit in Photoshop, and I'm pretty pleased with the results. The background isn't a bright white like I want, but then the paper isn't bright white either. I used some really white cardstock as a background, but then I had to edit out some seams and it was a giant pain! The colours of the fabric are nice and vibrant though, so A+.

I took these photos in the mid afternoon, and I was hoping to try out some photos in the morning when the sunlight is stronger. We are angled so we never get direct sunlight through our windows! A blessing in the summertime, but a pain for picture taking!

Wouldn't you know it, today was overcast. I took this one this morning, and the background is definitely less white. Boourns. I guess I'll be waiting for a sunny day again! The colours of the fabric are ok, but I really love pictures with nice white backgrounds. Just looks so much nicer!

I might have to start playing with reflectors and light boxes if this doesn't improve LOL. At least the lamp was only $12 so if I need another one it's a good price!
