Ah, Toronto. A place I love to visit! :D Thanks Dani and Nicci for hosting me (and running everywhere with me, even in the crumby weather!)!! :D:D
Tuesday
Let see, first, I was way to excited about my trip to fall asleep at a decent hour, so it was far to late before I dozed off on Monday night. So when the alarm went off at 4am, oh man did I hate myself a bit. Anyways, we went to get some breakfast at McDonalds, since Timmies had no food yet, and when we brought it to the station the train had just pulled up! So we didn't get to eat together, but I grabbed my food and ate on the train.
I had a lovely train ride - I had the seat to myself until Oshawa, not a bad deal! I couldn't figure out how to get the tray out, but I felt to silly about it to ask (I did figure it out on the ride home, woohoo!). I just dozed a bit, listened to some music, and read a book (The new Shana Galen book, it was good! Not as good as her previous ones, but enjoyable).
Got into the station at 8:30ish, Dani met me and we frolicked off to her house to drop off my stuff. Met up with Nicci, and we headed to Frans to eat some nommy food! Dani had to go to work after, so I went to her lobby and waited. Mmmm, time to drink coffee and read with no interruptions at all. So nice! After that it was Snakes and Lattes time!
Guys guys guys. I just love it there! The food is good, the lattes are nommy, and I just want to play all the games! We were there for HOURS. So many hours. The one game that we played that I LOVED was Survive Escape from Atlantis. It's adorable and so much fun! Just my luck though, it's out of print for a couple months. So I have my name down at the store here and germangames.com, so we will see who gets it first! I want it, and I think its one my friends would actually play!
Around 7 we went and looked at an awful apartment for Dani and Justin, then headed home. We just lounged for a while, then bed! I read just the most awful book that night - I bought it because I loved one of the other novels in the series, and they alluded to this pairing a couple times. Their story sounded so interesting, and then the book was just so bad. I kept waiting for it to get better, and it just never did! By the time I realised that, I only had 70 pages left and figured I should just finish it. Jeez. My Ruthless Prince by Galen Foeley, everyone. Just terrible.
Wednesday
We were heading out to The Workroom today! :D:D I was so excited to go to this store, I had such high hopes! We stopped off at the Eaton Centre's new food court for lunch, and my goodness have they ever changed! It's so high class (for a food court lol). Read dishes, glasses and silverware! Wow! Unfortunately, the noodle place I went to was not very good. That was sad, but then we got some gelato that was so yummy it made up for it all!
While we were at the mall we stopped at the Fossil store for me to pet the purses. I have to say that the design I like is the perfect size! Now I just have to wait for a pattern I really love to come into existence, and I will be all over that! :D
Took the street car to The Workroom WAY out on Queen. I was not displeased! It was not as big as I thought it would be, but it was still so nice to look. They have a decent selection of designer fabrics, and carry some Echino sometimes (though not that day, woe). I bought some Echo fat quarter, some random fat quarters, some notions and a bunch of tiny scissors - some for me and some for gifts. Most pleased!
My haul from The Workroom is on the left, and on the right is some Echino I ordered! I ordered it when we got home on Wed, and it was at my house on Friday when I got back! :D
We wandered around Queen street for a while, poking into shops and eating Crepes, then home to laze around - I played some video games and remembered how much I miss them! Dani played some Mass Effect for me, and I just can't wait to get that game (and a PS3, too!)! :D Nicci made some gnocchi (I think?), which was really yummy. You need to give me your recipe for that sauce Nicci! It was so good, would be delicious on pasta with chicken! :D
Thursday
Thursday was a lazy day! Dani and I went to the grocery store to get things for ALL THE STUFFED MUSHROOMS. Good God, there was a lot! :D It's too bad that I wasn't too fond of the breadcrumbs (I think it would have been yummy with Panko, which was actually the original plan but then we forgot). The last batch we made was just SO GOOD. Some sort of bacon/ham/cream cheese contraption! Too bad we were pretty full from stuffing our faces from the last 2 batches (I might not have liked the breadcrumbs, but they were still yummyyummy!)
We ventured out to the LEGO store after lunch!! Mmmmm Lego! I didn't get ANYTHING. Oh man. If I had driven to Toronto, I probably would have got one of the sets I wanted, since the box was just too huge to try and bring on the train. They even had one of the Death Star sets in the store! Wow!
After that we headed out to all you can eat sushi! MMMMM. Too bad the service was so bad, Dani pulled an ASTONISHING maneuver and paid the incorrect, cheaper bill they brought. I didn't really fight her on it though, since they did bring us the wrong bill, and forgot about half our order through the dinner. Scandalous.
There was more lazy video game hijinks! Then bedtime!
Friday
Thankfully, this was the only really crappy day out while I was in Toronto. It was snowing and blowing and raining and slushing and generally wet and cold. Thankfully my shoes are waterproof, but even they can't survive the sheer amount of wet that was out there! Poor Nicci had no boots at all and her feet were just so cold. Because, hey, it's still winter here? You wouldn't know it though! Anyways, we braved the crappy weather to try out a place called Uncle Bettys, which looks like a little mom and pop shop, but the food tastes like HEAVEN. Oh man, it was so good. I had a steak and potatoes and gravy, and it was easily the best thing I've eaten in ages. Just so fantastic. Definitely have to go there again! NOM.
We got home and dried off for a while, then it was time to head to the train! Dani and I got to Union about an hour early, and thought that we would kill some time at Starbucks. Foolish, foolish! :P We got there a half hour early, and the line was MASSIVE. Needless to say that I did not get a seat to myself, nor did I get a window seat. Woe! I sat beside someone who was watching movies, which I found a little irritating, actually, even with both her and I wearing headphones. I just wanted to read my book, but I kept getting distracted by her movies! She watched Drive and Tower Heist... Drive was weird and violent, and Tower Heist looked good but I didn't see much of it. I was seriously trying to read. Alas! I really should have brought more cash on the train, since around 6 I was really hungry and they brought out the cart.
Then I was home, and basking in my own comfy bed and surrounded by new fabrics. :D
All it all, it was a wonderful trip! Thanks again, ladies, for running all over Toronto with me! <3<3<3
