the end of the road

Woooohooo I have got one week of school left and then I'm DONE! I had my make up clinicals today and yesterday. I ended up with a sweet patient and she had all kinds of fun stuff to do. I got to do trach suctioning, trach cleaning, change the inner cannula, do meds through a peg tube (only done that 2 xs now), check placement of the tube, and check residual! I love doing new things at clinical. I also had to hang a piggy back antibiotic which was not being run through a pump---which I have never done before...so I had to calculate the drip factor and actually time the drips a minute, but it was nothing like I thought it would be. It was relatively easy. Anyway so i did all kinds of things today!! Another benefit of makeup clinicals was that I got to miss class--and since I don't really like the folks in my class I got to be with my ADN student friends. There were only 3 of us, and one of them was my buddy and the other became my buddy! The other girl, michelle, works with my friend Lydia at Thomas, so that was a cool little connection. Anyway we had a great time at clinical and then we all went out to chik fil a when we were done. Then of course I went home and David(being so sweet) gave me an awesome foot massage and leg massage, and then I passed out.
Anyway well this next week is my last week of class and I can't believe it. I have a test on monday on hemotology(anemias etc) and emergent care, a final for med-surg on thurs, a psych nursing final on fri, then a makeup test after the psych final. Then I'm all done.
This coming monday we are having our pinning ceremony and I'm excited about that. We say the Florence Nightingale pledge and get our pins!!

Ohh and I already had an application put in at Mobile Infirmary and they called me back! They wanted to "touch base" with me and let me know they are very interested in me..and that the nurse manager for the unit I applied for is out sick but they wanted to let me know to be expecting a call towards the end of the week about an interview!!!!!! WOOOOHOOO. I am excited I hope that I will like the people on the unit b/c this job seems like it will be perfect. The hospital is sooooo close to me right now and of course since Infirmary now owns everything around here if I move to another area around here I can transfer to the hospital closest to me. Yayyyy! Anyway just wanted to update!
