I'm trying to completely cleanse the massive amounts of stuff I have so I can start packing everything up to move into my apartment and I have a lot of stuff I don't know what to do with. I'm going to end up donating or throwing it all away, but it's sad. Donating is good, but if anyone's ever been to the book section at the Salvation Army they know it's rarely even glanced at. And I have like, hundreds of dollars worth of books for elemntary/middle school aged kids. I just want to see them give some other kid joy. I have about 50 R.L. Stine (Fear Street series, not Goosebumps) books, 20 Lois Duncan/Joan Lowry Nixon mystery books (I consider them practically the same author), an almost complete "Fearless" series and "Daughters of the Moon" series. I have (that I never read, but belonged to my sister) an entire Anne of Green Gables series, and not only a complete Little House set, but the after books about Laura's daughter Rose. And about 50 or so other middle school kid books.
If anyone knows someone who would like those books, or a better place to donate them (I know sometimes there are book drives for schools in Africe and Central America and stuff, but I haven't heard of any happening now) that'd be sweet.
Ohh and a set of 100 American Girl book series cards up for grabs. (my sisters, but she doesn't want em back)
I also have all my old stuffed animals I don't want to say goodbye too. I want to save just one, but then I can't pick. The bunny I slept with for 6 years, the mousey I got on my first christmas or the lamb that used to sing that my older sister had before me.
And then there's all the trinkets. The stuff that nobody would want in a yardsale, you can't really donate anywhere, but it feels soo weird to throw away. The keychains, the little craft things, I have SO many of those. And like, jewelry boxes, I used to get one like, every year, I have like 7. Not like, one's I'd use now, but ones with like, ponies on them, and you open and a ballerina dances in a circle and sings.
And the one thing I REALLY can't figure out what do with is all my CD cases. Like, I never use them, I keep my cds in a binder. I feel like it would be ridiculous to throw or give them away, but they take up soo much space. I have about a hundred. I thought about taking out the booklets and giving away the cases, but I don't know. The booklets would just sit in a box somewhere, I never look at them either. Maybe I'll copy all my cds and then sell the originals back. But I hate how they only give like $1 a cd that you probably paid $18 for. What do you people do with your cd cases?
I wish I didn't have so many collections. The only one I really feel like displaying is my shot glass collection. I have a nesting doll collection I have no idea what to do with. I'm definitely going to keep it, but I kind of stopped collection like, 6 years ago. But some of them were really expensive.
Argh.
