How are you going to cancel a class the first day of the semester.
Simple obviously. And I thought I was mad at first but then I would never have known.....
Jason Robert Brown......one of the greatest composers/lyricists ever......
was speaking at my school. Not even speaking; giving a workshop!
He completely disected one of his songs for the short period of time that I was there (I had work.....) and he said something that I will never forget. "I don't have time to waste words. I write every word for a reason. It is your job to figure out those reasons."
I know why I am an actor. I know why I am a singer. I know why I am an improvisor. I know why I am a performer. When people talk about my art like that and give it new meaning and give me a new perspective to grow and learn from.....it is like a drug. I am meant to and need to do this. Nothing has ever felt more right. This has been just a day full of mind stretching events.
And to think I started the day by being pissed about a cacelled class......
