OC Penpals!

Jan 22, 2011 02:56

So I got this idea from reading puella_nerdii's advice column thread, and thinking to myself, "Writing to one of Puel's characters as one of my characters? That sounds like fun! --But they don't know each other very well yet! What are they supposed to talk about?"

And then I thought to myself, "PENPAL THREAD," and that brings us up to now.

Thanks for the recap. So what is it? )

To His Royal Majesty,

Ah, I see! Many aspiring royals got their start just as you have. Generally, one gets together a group of friends, or at least individuals who can be compelled to follow you, and you take over a bit of land, and possibly conquer a few surrounding provinces in order to neaten up the lines on the map, and then you start collecting taxes. At that point, you have everything you need to be a kingdom except for the recognition of your fellow states. Until you have that, I'm afraid, you may be in a bit of hot water, but keep fighting them off and sending them letters, and particularly establish trade with them, so that invading you will be detrimental to their economy, and you should be able to establish yourself soon enough.

I wish you the best of luck.

Although, if your reason for founding a kingdom is to win the heart of this neighboring prince, have you considered any alternatives? After all, it's quite possible that your ambitions on his borders may place you at odds. I'm not familiar with the political climate of your region, but perhaps you could apply for vasselage under his kingdom? Once you're established, of course. You could even arrange it as a political marriage, if your territory were desirable enough. It would be no bad thing, for him to marry you to bring your territory into the fold.

Who is this advisor of yours, may I ask? What qualifications does he have?

With affection,
M.de Baschi
