I AM ASKING YOU ALL.

Should I do another 1) half marathon in October? 2) A 10K road race?* 3) sit on the couch?

The half would mean I'd have to get off the couch first so there will be no episodes of the kind where latin_doll falls over into a gutter half-way or takes a leisurely stroll over the finishing line. I'm moderately out of half marathon shape (though I did run 15K today! Take that, neverending rain!) and also my new shoes suck (I wore the old ones today and at least I didn't wobble. But now my ankles hurt because there always has to be something.) I have no money for new!new shoes and anyway it's probably too late to wear them in if I had.

The 10K would be awesome because I can already do it, and I read on the internet that if I manage it in 55 minutes I might be able to run a half in under 2 hours. Awesome! (Improbable! - But 10K usually take me 59 minutes including traffic lights, cars, and getting out of the way of passersby so maybe if I kick it up and eat a lot of bananas beforehand...). Con: it'd feel like a stepdown. (On the other hand, ever since I've run the half, all those little evening 5Ks don't feel like proper running anymore. Motivate that :( )

I'd also like to sit on the couch for a bit and watch the rain from the inside and eat pumpkin soup and chocolate and drink tea all day. I'm reading Margaret Atwood (for whom I have a soft spot)'s The Year of The Flood right now, how's that for an autumn pastime? (I know it's technically summer, but it's been raining for the past four weeks or so).

*which, incidentally, would be the 10K I didn't do last year because I smashed my toe into a doorframe. The toe wants revenge!

That being said: oy, Treehugger! I hope you survived the weekend :D

sport, bücher
