So, Is Anyone Here Watching Revolution?

I'm not. I tried for a few episodes but I couldn't get past the annoyingness, of ..., well, of a certain character.

Still, I have an odd feeling that one day, seven years from now, I'll walk into the living room where my oldest step-son is feeding his new baby while watching "Revolution" and I'll say something like, "OhmiGod, is that show still on the air?" and he'll reply: "Don't say 'OhmiGod'. No one says that anymore. And yes, it is." and I'll immediately get sucked into it's last three horrifically crappy seasons.

So, the question is, short of a time machine, how do I stop my future self from going down that road? Or should I just relax and let the inevitable happen?

In other news, I'm finished with Buffy and have moved on to Angel. Now that both shows are safely off the air for some time and anything I say about either of them will still probably alienate a large number of people:

I am a Biley shipper. Or is it Ruffy? Anyway, Spuffy may have been hotter and Bangle may have been soul-matier, but the relationship with Riley struck me as the only one that would have worked for the long haul.

Once again I find that secondary characters are the make-or-break element for me: I found myself fast-forwarding almost any scene that didn't focus mainly on Willow, Xander, Cordelia, Wesley, or Gunn. In other words, I fast-forwarded through most of Angel Season 1.

I also fast-forwarded through almost every shipper moment in both series. Well, except for a few Spuffy scenes, and the Wesley/Lilah stuff. Probably this says something about me. Something not terribly flattering.

What was up with Whedon introducing Main Character 2.0 mid-show(s)? Makes me shudder to think what kind of orphan boy Mal would have inadvertently adopted on Season 4 of Firefly. Probably a plucky and sarcastic one with a beef against the Alliance.

I get that there are people who liked Buffy Cordelia better than Angel Cordelia and there are people who liked Angel Cordelia better than Buffy Cordelia and there are people who don't consider them the same character. For myself, Angel Cordelia was the person I didn't realize until now I was hoping would drive into town looking for Chloe in Season 4 of Smallville only to discover Clark naked in a cornfield. Didn't happen. Oh well.

(Oh, and feel free to unfriend me over this, but am I the only one who thought: "Great. One half of the big ground-breaking on-screen lesbian relationship of my generation was a blank-slate, off-the-shelf love interest with almost no back-story except that her super-conservative family doesn't like lesbians witches?" Of course, I say this as someone who was hoping for an opposites-attract kind of thing with Faith and Willow... and oddly enough that's sorta what we got in the end.)

That said: am looking for fic recs. I know there's a ton of stuff out there, and despite my dislike of watching actors making big eyes at one another I am open to reading stuff of most any 'ship persuasion.

revolution, smallville, buffy the vampire slayer, angel
