I can't recommend MASH enough. It's impressive to me how well it stands up even twenty-five years after the finale -- and I'm amazed (and sometimes appalled) by how timely some of the episodes still are.
No Lana hate intended, because she looks lovely, but Klinger rocks everything he wears, and this more than most, because he's got the one things they never managed to give to Lana - attitude.
Let's face it; I don't care how desperate things got in Smallville, I don't think Lana would be able to pull off taking to the skies on a hang glider looking like a big red bird with fuzzy pink slippers. And would she ever have the wherewithal to try to eat a jeep? I think not!
Klinger was a character that was easy to notice and hard to forget and the that the fact that we're talking about him almost 30 years later pretty much proves who should win. Some characters are enduring and some are...well, Lana.
This is an awesome poll, but now I'm going to end up watching M*A*S*H* episodes all night. lol
Heh - I don't know that Clark would have the wherewithal to eat a jeep, and he's got a stomach of steel.
If you haven't noticed by now, I am a huge, huge Klinger fan (but vote your conscience, peeps!). I love his never-say-die attitude, and I also love that he was the first regular character introduced to the series who didn't appear in the novel or the movie. Guess I have a thing for break-out personalities.
Klinger's served in Korea (and incidentally so did Jamie Farr; the dog-tags Klinger wears were Jamie's during the war) -- but I agree, he's extremely resourceful! Of course, I imagine after conning headquarters out of concrete and generators so the surgeons could do their jobs, scrounging up gold lame in the middle of a war zone was a piece of cake.
