The impersonalisation of society

Aug 10, 2009 22:09

First it was my local Co-op convenience store; then Boots the Chemist; then Morrisons; and now B & Q ...

The insidious spread of the automatic cashier.

Gets rid of staff, just as unemployment is growing.

And means that you can now go right through the shopping experience without ever needing to speak to anyone.

A life devoid of personal contact.

Silent Running come home to roost.

Sad.

society, environment
